Let’s Live Better is offering Australian primary schools the chance to win one of two $40,000 Canteen Rescue’s simply by shopping at participating Colonial First State Global Asset Management (CFSGAM) shopping centres.

Every dollar spent until 12 June will earn your school one point and every purchase made at fresh food stores will earn schools double points.The winning schools will receive a $40,000 canteen makeover including a solar energy package provided by Solar Sunwerx, two Thermomix kitchen miracles, a menu makeover and $15,000 cash.

Let’s Live Better is a community initiative developed by CFSGAM shopping centres in partnership with the Children’s Food Education Foundation (CFEF) aimed at positively influencing children’s food and lifestyle choices through school holiday activities and reward programs.

Terms and Conditions
1. Details of the promotion
1.1 Information on how to enter the Let’s Live Better Canteen Rescue promotion (“Promotion”) forms part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in the Promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
1.2 The promoter of this Promotion is Colonial First State Property Management Pty Ltd (ABN 96 101 504 045) of 1341 Dandenong Road, Chadstone VIC 3148. Telephone: 03 9936 1222 (“Promoter”).
1.3 Entry is only open to Australian residents. Officers, managers and employees (and their immediate families) of the Promoter, the Promoter’s associated companies and contractors, participating retailers and agencies associated with this Promotion are ineligible to enter.
1.4 This Promotion is being run at the following shopping centres (hereafter referred to as “Participating Centres”):
(a) Metro Category: VIC: Bayside Shopping Centre (28 Beach Street Frankston Vic 3199), Forest Hill Chase Shopping Centre (270 Canterbury Road, Forest Hill VIC 3131); Broadmeadows Shopping Centre (1099 - 1169 Pascoe Vale Road, Broadmeadows); Northland Shopping Centre (2-50 Murray Road, Preston VIC 3072); QLD: Runaway Bay Shopping Centre (10-12 Lae Drive, Runaway Bay QLD 4216); Grand Plaza Shopping Centre (Cnr Browns Plains Rd and Mt Lindesay Hwy Browns Plains, QLD, 4118); SA: Elizabeth Shopping Centre (Suite 1 Raleigh Chambers 50 Elizabeth Way, Elizabeth SA 5112); ACT: Tuggeranong Hyperdome (Cnr Anketell and Reed Street, Tuggeranong ACT 2900) WA: Rockingham Shopping Centre (1 Council Avenue, Rockingham WA 6168); Midland Gate Shopping Centre (274 Great Eastern Highway MIDLAND WA 6056).
(b) Local Category: NSW: Ballina Fair Shopping Centre (Cnr Kerr & Fox Streets, Ballina NSW 2478); The Entertainment Quarter (Building 220, 122 Lang Rd Moore Park, NSW 2021); Lake Haven Shopping Centre (Lake Haven Drive, Lake Haven NSW 2263); Salamander Bay Shopping Centre (2 Town Centre Circuit Salamander Bay NSW 2317), QLD: Clifford Gardens Shopping Centre (Corner James St and Anzac Ave Toowoomba Clifford Gardens Qld 4350); Mt Pleasant Shopping Centre (Cnr Bucasia Road and Phillip Street, North Mackay QLD 4740); Beenleigh Shopping Centre (114-118 George Street, Beenleigh QLD 4207); VIC: Brimbank Central Shopping Centre (Cnr Neale & Station Roads Deer Park VIC 3023 ); Altona Gate Shopping Centre (124 - 134 Millers Road Altona North VIC 3025); Corio Shopping Centre (Bacchus Marsh Road (Cnr Purnell Road), Corio VIC 3214); Bendigo Marketplace Shopping Centre (37 Garsed Street, Bendigo Vic 3550); Rosebud Plaza Shopping Centre (Cnr Boneo Road and McCombe Street, Rosebud Vic 3939); SA, Castle Plaza Shopping Centre (992 South Road, Edwardstown SA 5039); TAS: Northgate Shopping Centre (387-393 Main Road Glenorchy TAS 7010), Eastlands Shopping Centre (Bligh Street Rosny Park TAS 7018).
1.5 The Promotion will commence at Metro Category Participating Centres from 9am on 4 April 2011 until close of trade on 12 June 2011; and at Local Category Participating Centres from 9am on 9 May 2011 and ends at close of trade on 12 June 2011 (“Promotional Period”).
1.6 Primary Schools may take part in the Promotion and be eligible to win prizes by their school principal or other authorised representative agreeing to these Terms and Conditions in writing during or prior to the Promotion Period (“Participating School”).
1.7 Customers and Participating Schools can follow the progress of the Promotion by logging onto the Let’s Live Better website – www.letslivebetter.com.au.
1.8 Customers earn one point for their Participating School for every dollar or part thereof spent on Eligible Receipts during the Promotional Period.
1.9 “Eligible Receipts” means a retail purchase made at a shop within a Participating Centre (or otherwise allowed via these Terms and Conditions) during the Promotion Period. Each retail purchase must be evidenced by the original transaction receipt. The following transactions are excluded for the purposes of the Promotion:
a) Cash advances/withdrawals, account charges, government fees, interest charges, real estate purchases, bill payments, medical service expenses, or ATM/Bank transactions;
b) Lay-by payments, except where the amount paid completes the transaction;
c) Transactions from any banking or financial institution, insurance company or government entity including Medicare
1.10 Customers can award their points to a Participating School of their choice by taking their Eligible Receipts to the customer service desk, centre management office or placing them into a quick-drop box located at a Participating Centre during trading hours. Customers can enter by either (a) nominating their Participating School on the back of each receipt and placing it into the quick-drop box; or (b) have their receipt verified and stamped by a representative of the Participating Centre who will record their points and return the receipt to the customer. Please note that receipts placed in the quick-drop box will not be returned.
1.11 Each Customer is responsible for ensuring that the correct school is nominated when tendering receipts.
1.12 Only receipts dated within the promotional period will be eligible for nominations, receipts may only be redeemed once. Incomplete, indecipherable, duplicate or illegible nominations will be deemed invalid.
1.13 All tendered receipts will be scrutinized to ensure the promotion is fair to all customers and Participating Schools. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any receipts which the Promoter believes are not Eligible Receipts for genuine transactions. The Promoters decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
2. Bonus Points
2.1 Customers can earn bonus points for their Participating School as follows:
(i) double points will be awarded for each dollar spent at fresh food stores nominated by the Promoter (as advertised in the retail store or by the Promoter);
(ii) double points will be awarded for each dollar spent at selected stores nominated by the Promoter (as advertised in the retail store or by the Promoter);
(iii) double points will be awarded for every each dollar spent in a Participating Centre on the centre’s nominated double points day during the promotional period. Double points days will be advertised in the centre and in centre promotional material. Eligible Receipts must bear the date of the nominated day to earn double points.
2.2 Notwithstanding the above, no more than 4 points can be awarded for every dollar spent on an Eligible Receipt.
3. Prizes
The total prize pool is worth approximately $206,000 as detailed below.
3.1 National Prize:
The national prize is a Canteen Rescue package for the winner of each of the Metro and the Local categories which includes:
• Solar Sunwerx fully installed solar system package valued at approximately $20,500 per school: includes a professional consultation and assessment by Solar Sunwerx and full installation of a solar system including delivery and associated costs. The package consists of an up to a 3kw grid connect solar electric system including Samil Inverter, Antai Panel Racking & Topsolar 190W PV panels, energy and solar presentations to the school and energy audit report to help reduce energy consumption, ancillary products to reduce energy consumption (such as timers and standby power savers) and monitoring equipment to display solar energy production visually.
• Thermomix in Australia will provide a Canteen Rescue Makeover package valued at approximately $10,000 for each winning school. The package includes:
o two Thermomix TM 31 food processors for each winning school (including delivery and associated costs);
o a full day demonstration and training session from the award winning Chef Laurent for each winning school. The Promoter will provide economy flights, 1 night accommodation and transfers in line with the Promoter travel policy for Chef Laurent for the demonstration.
o a full set of Thermomix and Chef Laurent cookbooks for both of the winning schools (including delivery and associated costs).
o 12 month phone support for both the winning schools by Thermomix in Australia; and
o one-off Thermomix in Australia stall offering health food sampling for students of the two winning schools.
• Children’s Food Education Foundation will provide a Canteen Rescue Menu Makeover by Kay Richardson for each of the winning schools.
• A cheque for $15,000.00 for each winning school to assist in the running and the staffing of the canteen (or such other use as nominated by the school and agreed by the Promoter).
3.1.1 Each of the schools with the most points based on an adjustment amongst Participating Centres in the (a) Metro Category and (b) Local Category will be awarded a national prize. The adjustment will be calculated by dividing the Participating School’s total number of points by the following denominator: 1 – 200 students (/200); 201-400 students (/300); 401-600 students (/500); 601-800 students (/700); 801 – 1000 students (/900); and 1001 or more students (/total number of students). The total number of points will be determined based on the receipts tendered to Participating Centres.
3.1.2 Schools that have won a national prize in any previous year’s Canteen Rescue competition are ineligible to win the National Prize however they may still take part in the Promotion and win any of the other prizes.
3.1.3 In the unlikely event the school does not have a canteen, the school which has the highest amount of points based on the adjustment will be awarded the $15,000 payment only and the other prizes will be awarded to the school who has the second highest amount of points based on the adjustment.
3.1.4 In the unlikely event of a tie, the school which has the highest amount of points per student will be deemed to be the winner. In event that there is still a tie, then the school with the most points from fresh food retailers will be deemed to be the winner.
3.1.5 The winner will be announced on Monday 20 June 2011 and will be contacted by telephone and mail and published in The Australian on Friday 1 July 2011.
3.1.6 The Prize will be presented to each winning school within 2 months of the prize being announced, on a date agreed between the Promoter and the winning school.
3.1.7 All items included in the national prize as listed above must be delivered or installed prior to 31st December 2011 or an alternate date agreed to by the winning school and prize suppliers. It is the responsibility of the winning school to collect and make arrangements for installation and enter into any relevant contracts with the prize suppliers.
3.2 Local Prize
The school with the three highest number of points at each Participating Centre (based on the adjustment referred to above) will be awarded with a cheque or payment in favour of the winning schools for the amounts set out below:
(a) Metro Category and The Entertainment Quarter
- 1st Prize - $3,000 cash
- 2nd Prize - $2,000 cash
- 3rd Prize - $1,000 cash
(b) Local Category (excluding The Entertainment Quarter)
- 1st Prize - $2,000 cash
- 2nd Prize - $1,000 cash
- 3rd Prize - $500 cash
3.2.1 Each school deemed as the winner of a National Prize will be ineligible to win a Local Prize at their Participating Centre and the Local Prize will be awarded to the schools with the next highest tallies.
3.2.2 The winners will be announced on Monday 20 June 2011 and will be contacted by telephone and mail and published in The Australian on Friday 1 July 2011.
3.3 Midway Point Prize
The school in each category with the most points (after the adjustment referred to above) at the midway point of the Promotion will win a school visit from one of the Let’s Live Better Ambassadors Shannan Ponton or Michelle Bridges. Thermomix in Australia will also provide a stall offering health food sampling for the students at the school visit. The midway point for the Metro Category is close of trade on 8 May 2011 and for the Local Category at close of trade on 19 May 2011.
3.4 Best Weekly Prizes
Each Tuesday during the Promotional Period each Participating Centre will award a ‘best weekly performer’ prize to a Participating School. A panel of judges will determine which school from each centre has preformed the best for that week. It is up to the judges’ discretion who receives this award and no correspondence will be entered into. The ‘best weekly performer’ may only be won once by a Participating School during the Promotional Period. The prize will be selected by the Promoter from a retailer at the Participating Centre to the value of approximately $200.
3.4.1 The winning school will be announced each Tuesday commencing the second week of the Promotional Period and will be contacted by telephone and mail and published on the Participating Centre’s website.
3.4.2 Any ancillary costs (if any) associated with redeeming the prize are not included.
3.4.3 If for any reason a winning school does not want any prize or an element of a prize or does not collect a prize within the time nominated by the Promoter, then the prize or that element of the Prize will be forfeited.
3.4.4 If any Prize is unavailable, the Promoter, in its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the prize with another prize to the equal value and/or specification, subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority.
3.4.5 Prizes, or any unused portion of a prize, are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
3.4.6 The Promoters decision is final and conclusive and no correspondence will be entered into.
4. It is a condition of accepting any prize, that a winning school consents to the Promoter or Participating Centre using the school’s name, likeness, the image and/or voice of representatives nominated by the school or participating in the prize presentations (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this Promotion (including any outcome), and promoting any products or services, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter or the Participating Centres.
5. By entering the competition, a Participating School and customer each releases and indemnifies the Promoter from and against all actions, liabilities, penalties, claims or demands the entrant may have against the Promoter or that the Promoter may incur for any loss or damage which is or may be suffered or sustained as a direct or indirect result of an entrant entering or participating in the competition or winning or failing to win a prize, or using or permitting any other person to use the prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law or which would cause any part of this clause to be void or unenforceable.
6. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, the Promoter (including its officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the Promotion, including, but not limited to, where arising out of the following: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry or Prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter; (d) any variation in Prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions; (e) any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant; or (f) use of the Prize.
7. The Promoter collects personal information in order to conduct the Promotion and may, for this purpose, disclose such information to third parties, including but not limited to agents, contractors, service providers, Prize suppliers and, as required, to Australian regulatory authorities. Collecting the Prize is conditional on providing this information. The Promoter may, for an indefinite period, unless otherwise advised, use the information for promotional, marketing, publicity, and research and profiling purposes, including sending electronic or mail messages or telephoning the entrant. Entrants should direct any request to access, update or correct information to the Promoter. All entries become the property of the Promoter.
