Good question! Philip Carter is a pseudonym for an internationally renowned and award-winning author.

Siberia, 1937. Pregnant with her first child, Lena Orlova plans a daring escape from a brutal Soviet prison camp to the one place she knows is safe: a cave containing the legendary Altar of Bones, hidden behind a frozen waterfall deep in the icy wilderness.

San Francisco, Present Day. Zoe Dmitroff discovers that she is the last in a line of women who have been entrusted with a secret so great many have died preserving it. Propelled into a dangerous quest to discover exactly what she was born to protect, Zoe is soon running for her life from a vicious assassin and an all-powerful businessman with chilling plans.

Only ex-Special Ops soldier Ry O’Malley can help her survive. But with time running out and the web closing in, Zoe will have to make a devastating decision that will transform her forever.

From the frozen wastelands of Russia, to the winding labyrinth of Paris’s backstreets, from Washington D.C. to San Francisco, Altar of Bones is a gripping global thriller that spans generations and unearths the secret behind one of the biggest conspiracies of all time.

In 50 words or less answer the riddle (7 words) and tell us why you want to travel around the world. *

From digging around on the web I would try:

Ruby, Aquamarine, Sapphire, Diamond, Fire opal, Iolite, Onyx

That is, the SEVEN words are in red above, apparently the whole lot starts with Ruby

Well that is certainly better than nothing jrnitsch and it was really very kind of you to try and get the answer. I'll give that a go and you'll be the first to know if I win!!! In fact you could give it a go yourself and hopefully karma will reward you with the prize.
All the best in your comps
Colin

I entered earlier today, good luck to all ACC entrants. I cannot be sure my answer is correct but that answer has been suggested elsewhere on the web.

Winner of Round the World Trip announced
It was SO hard to choose from all the wonderful entries but we have found the lucky winner of our Altar of Bones competition to win a round-the-world trip for 2. Congratulations A Flavel! We loved A's answer which was so evocative of faraway places. She also found the correct answer to the riddle at the heart of the book: Ruby, Sapphire, Aquamarine, Diamond, Fire Opal, Iolite, Onyx. Bon voyage, have a wonderful time (we're jealous Smile!!

 Sad not me.
