The wonderful Victoria Wood takes a reflective look at some of the farther reaches of the British Empire in Victoria’s Empire, it’s released on DVD this month and we have five copies to give away!
The series takes for its starting point, the fact that queen Victoria never actually got to visit very many of the countries that made up her empire so our own Victoria decides to do it for her. From Hong Kong to Borneo, from Jamaica to Zambia and many other points in between, to examine the impact the British made (and sometimes not always for the better) in these places.
Wood is a fab host of course, genuinely interested in the places she sees and people she meets and is not scared to shy away from the mistakes the British made in their colonisation. Fascinating stuff!
Our competition runs until May 30, 2011. To be in with a chance to win one of five dvd’s of Victoria’s Empire all you have to do is
