Terms and ConditionsThe Courier-Mail and The Sunday Mail - Chance to win $1 million Golden Ticket Promotion
Information on how to enter, how to claim, how to play, and prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in this promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. There will be a guaranteed maximum total prize pool 1,022 prizes equating to a total prize pool value of $200,322.76. There will be a maximum of 2,688,061 promotional Golden Ticket envelopes printed for this promotion.
Entry and registration is only open to residents of Queensland aged 18 or over who purchase a copy of The Courier-Mail on Saturday 11/06/2011, 18/06/2011, 25/06/2011 and The Sunday Mail on 12/06/2011, 19/06/2011, and 26/06/2011. This promotion is not open to residents of New South Wales, A.C.T., Tasmania, Victoria, Northern Territory, Western Australia or South Australia and is not being conducted in these States/Territories.Employees and the immediate families of News Queensland, participating newsagents, subagents, any partners or agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or first cousin.
The promotion commences 11/06/2011 and closes 26/07/2011 ("Promotional Period"). Instant Win prize claims must be registered on the hotline within 48 hours and no later than 5pm on 28/06/2011 and claims must be received by last mail within 2 weeks on 12/07/2011. Entries for the Second Chance Draw close at 5pm on 28/06/2011. All times are local time in Queensland.
A promotional Golden Ticket envelope will be inserted into each copy of The Courier–Mail on Saturday 11/06/2011, 18/06/2011, 25/06/2011 and The Sunday Mail on 12/06/2011, 19/06/2011, and 26/06/2011. News Queensland will use their best endeavours to ensure each newspaper contains a Golden Ticket envelope but issues can occur and copies missed during the insertion process. If your newspaper is missing an envelope please call the Golden Ticket Hotline 1300 721 123.
If there is a dispute as to the identity or residential status of an entrant, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine the identity of the entrant.
"Chance to win $1,000,000":
For a "chance to win $1,000,000" entrants must break open their Golden Ticket envelope to reveal their unique promotional code, and then go to the couriermail.com.au/goldenticket website to register. Registrations include completing the personal details required and entering the unique promotional code from the Golden Ticket. Registrations close no later than 5pm on 28/06/2011. Valid entries require all required details to be completed.
There is a limit of one (1) registration per person per Golden Ticket envelopeEntrants should retain their original Golden Ticket envelope and the original masthead of the The Courier-Mail/The Sunday Mail from which they obtained Golden Ticket envelope.
Instant Win prize winners who register as Instant Win Prize winners and send in the required details to claim their Instant Win prize (see below) will also need to register for participation if they wish to be included in the draw to determine the invited entrant for the chance to win $1,000,000 Prize (100 Envelope).
The first entrant with a valid registration drawn from all valid registrations will be considered to proceed to the 100 envelope stage of the promotion.
The draw will take place on Tuesday 26/07/2011 at 12 noon at News Queensland, Cnr Mayne and Campbell St, Bowen Hills, Queensland. The details of the winner and the prize awarded will be published on
www.couriermail.com.au/goldenticket by 5pm Tuesday 26/07/2011.
The drawn entrant will be notified by telephone that they have been drawn and may be required by the Promoter to send in their original Golden Ticket envelope and original masthead to provide proof of entry before they proceed to the 100 envelope stage of the promotion. If this is required by the Promoter and the drawn entrant is unable to provide their original Golden Ticket and masthead as proof of purchase, the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify this person and move to the second valid registration drawn and so on until a valid registrant who can provide their original Golden Ticket and original masthead for proof of entry is determined. That drawn entrant will then be invited to proceed to the 100 envelope stage of the promotion in place of previously drawn entrants.
If the invited entrant cannot attend the 100 envelope stage of the promotion, the invited entrant may appoint a Queensland resident proxy over 18 years of age to do so on his/her behalf, provided the invited entrant gives the Promoter written, signed notice to that effect three (3) working days before the 100 envelope stage of the promotion. If the invited entrant lives within 200km of the News Queensland building any and all costs associated with attending the 100 envelope stage of the promotion are the sole responsibility of the invited entrant or proxy (as applicable). If the invited entrant or proxy (as applicable) lives more than 200km from the News Queensland building, News Queensland will bear the reasonable cost of transfers.
The 100 envelope stage of the promotion will be conducted as follows. There will be 100 envelopes numbered from one (1) to one hundred (100) placed on display for the invited entrant at the start of the 100 envelope stage of the promotion. Only one (1) envelope will contain a promotional message representing the $1,000,000 Prize. The other 99 envelopes will each contain a promotional message representing the Runner up Prize of $10,000. The invited entrant will be presented with 100 different envelopes numbered from 1 to 100 and will be asked to choose one (1) of the envelopes without touching, handling or interfering in any way with any of the other envelopes on display. If the invited entrant does touch, handle or interfere in any way with any of the other envelopes, he/she will be disqualified. If this occurs no alternative invited entrant will be selected, and neither the Runner up Prize or the $1,000,000 Prize will be given away.
The invited entrant will have 60 seconds to choose just one (1) envelope. The other 99 envelopes will be removed before the invited entrant is asked to open their chosen envelope to reveal their prize. The winner will not have the option to choose a second or any subsequent envelope.
If the invited entrant selects the envelope containing the promotional message representing the $1,000,000 Prize, then, subject to verification by the judges, the invited entrant will win the $1,000,000 Prize.
If the invited entrant selects an envelope containing a promotional message representing the Runner up Prize, then the Grand Prize will not be given away and, subject to verification by the judges, the invited entrant will win the Runner up Prize.
The odds of the invited entrant winning the $1,000,000 Prize are 1:100. The odds of an entrant being the invited entrant are significantly higher, and will depend upon the number of registrations received. The Runner up Prize or if won, the $1,000,000 Prize, will be paid to the invited entrant in the form of a cheque within 28 days of the 100 envelope stage of the promotion.
Instant Win Prizes:
For the chance to win an Instant Win prize, entrants must break open their Golden Ticket envelope and reveal whether they have instantly won an Instant Win prize. If the Golden Ticket envelope reveals an Instant Win prize, the entrant can register to win the Instant Win prize described in the ‘YOUR PRIZE’ panel.
To claim an Instant Win prize, the winning entrant must first register his or her claim on the hotline by calling 1300 721 123 within 48 and no later than 5pm on Tuesday 28/06/2011. Cost of 1300 call is at local call rates. Calls from mobile and pay phones may attract a higher rate. Call centre is open between 9am and 5pm Saturday June 11, 18, 25, Sunday June 12, 19, 26, Monday June 13, 20, 27, Tuesday June 14, 21, 28.
For verification purposes, Instant Win prize winners who register will be required to send in:
their original winning promotional Golden Ticket envelope containing the ‘YOUR INSTANT PRIZE’ panel and other verification devices intact;
attach an original masthead of The Courier-Mail/The Sunday Mail from the same date as their original winning Golden Ticket envelope as proof of entry; and
the claimant’s name, telephone number, email, postal address, and date of birth written in the ‘MY DETAILS’ space provided on the Golden Ticket envelope;
Mail to The Courier-Mail & The Sunday Mail Golden Ticket Promotion, Locked Bag 8884, Brisbane Qld 4001 so that it is received by last mail on 12/07/2011.
Instant Win prize winners must also retain a photocopy of their promotional Golden Ticket envelope, and the original masthead that they sent in.
Instant Win prize winners who register as Instant Win prize winners and send in the required details to claim their Instant Win prize will not be automatically registered for participation in the draw to determine the invited entrant for the chance to win $1 million Prize. Instant Win Prize Winners still need to separately register for the $1,000,000 draw/second chance draw online no later than 5pm on 28/06/2011 as described above to go into the draw for the chance to win $1,000,000.
Instant Win prize winners who do not register as Instant Win prize winners or who do not send in the required details to claim their Instant Win prize will not be awarded the prize.
Second Chance Draw:
Any entrant that registers for the "chance to win $1,000,000" will automatically be entered into the second chance draw.
Entries for the Second Chance Draw close at 5.00pm on 28/06/2011. There is a limit of one (1) registration per person per Golden Ticket envelope. Entrants must retain their original Golden Ticket envelope and original masthead from the edition of The Courier-Mail/The Sunday Mail that contained the Golden Ticket envelope.
A Second Chance Draw (if necessary) will take place on 15/07/2011 for any Instant Win prizes for which a claim has not been registered. The draw will take place at 10am at News Queensland, Cnr Mayne and Campbell St, Bowen Hills, Queensland, using the registered entries for the "chance to win $1,000,000" draw.
Prizes in the Second Chance Draw will be awarded in descending order of value. Winners in the Second Chance Draw will be notified by mail, and any winners of prizes over $200 will be published on
www.couriermail.com.au/goldenticket by 5pm Tuesday 19/07/2011.
Entrants who are notified by telephone that they have been drawn for a prize from the second chance draw may be required to send in their original completed Golden Ticket envelope and original masthead to provide proof of purchase before the prize is awarded/fulfilled
For verification purposes, the Promoter reserves the right to require second chance prize winner to send in: their original promotional Golden Ticket envelope containing their personal details; and attach an original masthead of The Courier-Mail/The Sunday Mail from the same date as the original Golden Ticket envelope as proof of purchase; before awarding the prize

General Rules:
Prizes will only be awarded where the entrant has fulfilled all of the requirements of the Promoter’s verification tests and procedures. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of all claims/entries and claimants/entrants (including a claimant’s/entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any claimant/entrant who tampers with the claim/registration process or who submits a claim/registration that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. The verification tests and procedures shall be determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
The Promoter’s decision in relation to all aspects of this promotion is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
No responsibility will be accepted for late, lost or misdirected mail/entries/claims.

Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, the Promoter, its promotional agency and the various prize suppliers (including their respective officers, employees and agents) exclude all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the promotion, including, but not limited to, where arising out of the following: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any registration/prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter; (d) any variation in prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions; or (e) use of any prize. It is a condition of accepting certain prizes (as determined by the Promoter and/or prize suppliers, in their absolute discretion) that the winner may be required to sign legal documentation as and in the form required by the Promoter, including but not limited to a legal release and indemnity form, in a form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
Any costs associated with accessing the promotional website is the entrant’s responsibility and is dependent on the Internet service provider used. Any contact details entered incorrectly on the website or on any required promotional material shall be deemed invalid.
The Promoter is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, either caused by the phone user or for any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in this competition, or for any technical error, or any combination thereof that may occur in the course of the administration of this competition including any omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line or telephone, mobile or satellite network failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of entries.
If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned (including but not limited to) technical failures, unauthorised intervention, fraud or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the registration process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition.
Entrants consent to the Promoter using the entrant"s name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event they are a winner (incl. photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period of time without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this competition (including any outcome), and promoting any products manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter.

If an entrant marks the "opt-in" boxes on the couriermail.com.au/goldenticket registration form, the entrant consents to the storage of their personal information on the Promoter’s or a prize partner’s database and (depending which "opt in" box(es) have been marked) the Promoter and/or the relevant prize partners may (depending which "opt in" box(es) have been marked) use this information at any time in the future for promotional and marketing purposes regarding their respective products or services including contacting the entrant via electronic messaging.
Promotional game materials are rendered void if stolen, forged, mutilated or tampered with in any way or if they fail the Promoter’s validation test. Only promotional game materials for this "Golden Ticket 2011" Promotion will be accepted. Promotional game materials from any other promotion, including any previous ‘The Courier-Mail/The Sunday Mail Competition’, will not be accepted.
Printing and other quality control errors will not invalidate an otherwise valid prize claim.

Subject to the unclaimed prize draw clauses, if for any reason a winner does not redeem the prize or an element of the prize by the time stipulated by the Promoter, then the prize or that element of the prize will be forfeited.
