The 2011 SA Writers Festival Wirra Wirra
Vineyards Short Story Award is now open
for entries. There are two categories: Youth
(15-25 years) and Open. Both have a first
prize of $1,000, plus a trophy. The top ten
winning entries will be published in an
anthology by Seaview Press and Salmat,
which will be launched at the Writers at
Wirra Wirra Day, Sunday 11 September.
The award is sponsored by Wirra Wirra
Vineyards, the City of Onkaparinga and the
SA Writers' Centre to promote our State's
writers and encourage creative writing in
the wider community. Closing date for entries is Thursday, 28 July.

Conditions of entry
1. Entrants must be South Australian residents. There is no entry fee.
2. All entries must be the original, unpublished work by the entrant.
3. The story must be no more than 5000 words.
4. Only one story per entrant.
5. The story must be printed on one side only of A4 pages, double-spaced, and securely stapled in the
left-hand corner.
6. Your name must appear only on the entry form, not on the story. No cover sheet is necessary and a
pseudonym is not required.
7. Send three copies of the story (but only one entry form).
8. Entries will not be accepted by fax, email or compact disc.
9. Entries received by, or postmarked on Thursday 28 July 2011 will be accepted.
10. Entries will not be returned and will be disposed of appropriately.
11. The judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
12. Employees and immediate family members of employees of Wirra Wirra Vineyards, SA Writers’ Centre,
City of Onkaparinga, Seaview Press and SALMAT are not eligible to enter this competition.
13. Copyright of the winning story will remain with the writer, however the committee seeks the right or to
be given permission to use the story in part or in full with proper attribution for any publicity or
documentary purposes.
14. Winners will be notified by phone by Friday 26 August 2011.
