Here are their explanation of each of their clues:
http://americantourister.com.au/press-office/You want answers; we got answers… plenty of them! We’ve outlined below how we came up with each clue to get to our mystery prize destination QUEENSTOWN. Over the last two weeks we saw two different types of clues appear; those that pointed to the specific destination of Queenstown, and others that made reference to its country of New Zealand, to get us all heading in the right direction. Some clues combined hints to both!
CLUE 1: When AT travelled to our first mystery prize destination we…sang a rolling chorus of God Save the Queen
It has the word “Queen” in it. You initially thought London didn’t you?! Cryptic, we know…
Clue 2: When AT travelled to our first mystery prize destination we packed this in our Cube Alpha suitcase:
We’d need all of this in our AT Cube Alpha suitcase to ensure we could do the following:
Hike, ski, protect our peepers from the glare of the snow, drink some delish NZ Sav Blancs, get inspired (or terrified) to do some hardcore adventure sports reading Aron Ralston’s book, go white-water rafting and take snaps of the awe-inspiring snow-capped mountains.
Clue 3: When AT travelled to our first mystery prize destination we had the song Informer by Snow on repeat.
Who could forget the sweet lyrics of ‘90’s rapper Snow. His name is a great indication of what you’d you’s see in Queenstown. And heaps of it…
Clue 4: When AT travelled to our first mystery prize destination we felt like the walls were closing in!
You usually feel this way when the room is crowded, or the house is crowded… making it a Crowded House – classic band led by New Zealander Neil Finn.
Clue 5: When AT travelled to our first mystery prize destination we were happy as…
Happy as a “pig in mud”. NZ is famous for their mud baths and pools. There’s no way you can holiday there and not come out dirty… albeit relaxed.
Clue 6: When AT travelled to our first mystery destination we saw ALL these things; a comedy, the Sabbath, an eye, a little dress and smith.
A BLACK comedy
The BLACK Sabbath
BLACK eye
Little BLACK dress
BLACKsmith
What do they all have in common? No they’re not all part of our standard Saturday nights. They’re ALL BLACK… The All Blacks are NZ’s rugby team. They also do a mean Haka.
Clue 7: Is it an animal, vegetable or mineral. Or is it a fruit??
Animal or fruit? Or both? Kiwi Birds are one of New Zealand’s native animals. They are also delicious! The fruit-type that is… (*stop dialling RSPCA*).
Clue 8: When we travelled to our first mystery destination Jack, Jill and AT went up a REMARKABLE hill…
Jack and Jill didn’t just climb any hill, they climbed a REMARKABLE hill. The Remarkables is a mountain range in NZ and only 40 minutes out from Queenstown – awesome for all you skiers out there!
Clue 9: When AT travelled to our first mystery destination we saw something unusual in town…..
Not many people can say the Queen has made them dinner… actually with nearly 150 servants we don’t think she has actually ever cooked dinner. Needless to say it would surely be unusual to see Queen Elizabeth II frying up Friday night’s “fush n’ chups” (for those playing at home, that’s “fish n’ chips” in New Zealand). One of NZ’s fave cuisines, cooked by “the Queen” brings us to Queenstown, NZ.
Clue 10: When AT travelled to our first mystery prize destination we Facebook “checked-in” to:
Mmmmmmmm Ferburger. If these guys delivered to Oz we’d be submitting orders daily! If you Googled Fergburger you would have seen that they sell the best burgers… in where else but Queenstown!!
All sounds pretty easy when we put it this way doesn’t it? Now that you see our logic no doubt you will all be onto us for the next two mystery prize destinations!
