Two masterful concert works from the 2011 season of the world’s preeminent orchestra, The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, have been captured live in high definition with digital sound and will be screened at Dendy Cinemas Portside in September for strictly limited seasons.

WALDBUHNE 2011 will screen September 10, 11 and 14
Each year the amazing Waldbühne outdoor amphitheatre in Berlin plays host to the Philharmonic’s summer concerts. One of the most popular classical music concerts in the world, this year’s performance is conducted by Riccardo Chailly and features the music of Ottorino Respighi, Nino Rota (“La Strada” suite) and Dmitri Shostakovich (Suite No. 2 for Jazz Orchestra).

BERLIN PHILHARMONIKER & YATUKA SADO will screen September 24, 25 and 28
Recorded live at the Berliner Philharmonie, this special benefit concert for the victims of the Japanese disasters features the Philharmonic debut of charismatic and award-winning conductor Yutaka Sado (long-time assistant of Leonard Bernstein and Seiji Ozawa). It features the music of Tõru Takemitsu and Dmitri Shostakovich (Symphony No. 5 D minor, Op. 47).
