The Townsville Bulletin is helping readers to BLOW THE BUDGET with 5 x $5000 cash prizes up for grabs. 
For your chance to win*, simply collect up to 5 daily $1000 tokens (printed Monday - Friday from August 22).  Stick the tokens on to the entry form (printed from Saturday, August 20) and you could win up to $5000 cash.  You decide the prize you receive simply by the number of tokens you collect (e.g. 1 token = $1000, 5 tokens = $5000).

BLOW THE BUDGET COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By entering the Blow the Budget Competition you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions. The North Queensland Newspaper Company Pty Ltd reserves the right, with or without cause, to exclude entrants and withhold prizes for violating any of these terms and conditions. The North Queensland Newspaper Company Pty Ltd reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Any amendments to the terms and conditions will be published in the Townsville Bulletin.

For the purposes of these terms and conditions, the Promoter is The North Queensland Newspaper Company Pty Ltd, 198 Ogden Street Townsville QLD 4810. ABN:64 009 655 690.

1. WHO CAN ENTER

(a) This competition is open only to:

(i) residents of Queensland due to the fact that the prize provider is unable to provide the prize outside of that geographical area;

(ii) persons aged 18 years or older; and

Proof of age and residency (e.g. drivers licence) must be shown upon request.

(b) Employees, contractors and authorised agents of North Queensland Newspaper Company Pty Ltd, and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.

Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or adopted), parent, step-parent, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister.

2. HOW TO ENTER

(a) Collect the $1000 tokens from the Townsville Bulletin (commencing Monday August 22 – Friday September 23). Stick up to 5 x $1000 tokens on the entry form (printed Saturday’s from August 20). Complete the entry form in the Townsville Bulletin, then either post to Blow the Budget Competition, PO Box 2030, Townsville 4810 or deliver to 198-244 Ogden Street, Townsville 4810.

(b) The competition commences at 5am on Saturday August 20 and closes at 5pm on Wednesday September 28.

(c) Entries that are illegible, received after the closing time or do not fulfil all the conditions of entry will not be accepted.

(d) Only original entry forms and coupons will be accepted, no photocopies.

(e) Should an entry form be drawn with two or more names the name that appears first on the entry will be deemed the winner.

(f) There is no limit on the number of entries per individual, family or syndicate. Individuals, families or syndicates lodging multiple entries however must provide newsagent receipts for newspaper purchases with their entries.

(g) Ownership (including intellectual property rights) in all entries (whether in written, audio or visual form, or a combination of those) is assigned to the Promoter upon submission of the entry and remains the property of the Promoter (subject to any limits contained in the Promoter’s Privacy Policy).

3. HOW TO WIN

(a) The winners will be drawn at 10.30am on Thursday September 29, 2011.

(b) The winners will be announced in the Townsville Bulletin published on Saturday October 1, 2011 and online at www.townsvillebulletin.com.au .The winners will also be notified by telephone within 7 days after the draw.

All reasonable endeavours will be made to contact the winners. If the winners cannot be contacted within 7 days after the draw, the Promoter reserves the right to re-draw winners from the entries which were received before the closing date for the competition.

(c) The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

4. PRIZE

(a) Five winners drawn will each receive up to $5000 cash. Each winners prize will be allocated based on the number of $1000 tokens they have included on their entry form. For example if the entrant has 1 x $1000 token stuck onto their entry form they will receive $1000. If the entrant has 2 x $1000 tokens stuck onto their entry form they will receive $2000. Maximum number of tokens per entry form is 5.

(b) Prizes will be paid by way of Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) into the account specified by the winner.

(c) The full complement of the prize must be taken as offered and is not redeemable for cash or any other services.

(d) The prize will be forfeited if the winner does not redeem or take the prize at the time and place stipulated by the Promoter.

(e) In the event that any prize item is unavailable, the Promoter may, but is not required to, provide a substitute prize item of equal or greater value at the publishing date.

(f) Any taxes (other than GST, if any) which may be payable as a consequence of a winner receiving the prize, or any element of the prize, are the sole responsibility of the winner.

(g) The winner agrees not to sell or lease the prize, because profiteering from the prize, in part or full, is a breach of supply and action will be taken if misused.

(h) The winner consents to the use of his or her name, photograph and entry for promotional purposes.

If the winner does not comply with the terms and conditions and is therefore ineligible to redeem or take the prize, the prize will be forfeited and the Promoter is under no obligation to provide a substitute prize.

5. NO LIABILITY

(a) In the case of the intervention of an outside act, agent or event which prevents or hinders the Promoter’s ability to proceed with the competition on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, the Promoter may, in its absolute discretion, cancel the competition and, if appropriate, recommence it from the start on the same conditions.

(b) The Promoter does not exclude any rights and remedies in respect of goods or services under the Trade Practices Act 1975 (Cth) or equivalent State or Territory legislation which cannot be excluded, restricted or modified. However, the Promoter excludes all rights, remedies, conditions and warranties in respect of goods or services associated with entrants’ entry into this competition or the winner’s enjoyment of the prize whether based in statute, common law or otherwise to the fullest extent permitted by law.

(c) The Promoter is not responsible for prizes damaged or lost in transit, or late, lost or misdirected mail, except where the damage or loss is caused solely as a result of the fault of the Promoter.

(d) Entrants acknowledge and agree that:

(i) the prize, or elements of the prize, is inherently dangerous; and

(ii) participation in the prize is undertaken at the winner’s own risk; and

(iii) the Promoter is released, to the fullest extent permitted by law, from all liability for any loss, damage or injury suffered by the winner while participating in the prize.

(e) To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not liable for, and all entrants release the Promoter from any liability arising out of or in connection with, any loss, damage, injury, action or claim (including consequential loss) suffered or incurred by entrants and the winner which arises out of or in connection with:

(i) the competition draw;

(ii) any travel won on or connected with the prize or entry into the competition;

(iii) participation in the prize or any element of the prize; or

(iv) the publication or broadcast of any material or statement by the Promoter, any employee, contractor or agent of the Promoter or any other person.

6. PRIVACY

(a) By entering this competition, you agree that your details provided to the Promoter will be used by the Promoter and its related companies in accordance with its Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy relates to the collection and use of personal information you may supply to the Promoter through your participation in the competition.

The Promoter reserves the right, at its discretion, to modify or remove portions of its Privacy Policy at any time.

The North Queensland Newspaper Company Pty Ltd (NQN) collects your personal information to assist us in providing the goods or services you have requested, to process your competition entries, and to improve our products and services. We or any of our Australian related companies may be in touch by any means (including email or SMS) to let you know about goods, services, or promotions which may be of interest to you. We may also share your information with other persons or entities who assist us in providing our services, running competitions or with other companies who provide prizes for competitions or reader offers.

NQN is part of a global media and entertainment company. We would like to share your information with these overseas-related companies so that they can contact you with special offers.
