BBC Period drama The Crimson Petal and the White takes us into Victorian London’s dark heart with it’s story of a young prostitute determined to improve her lot in life. Starring Romola Garai, Chris O’Dowd and Gillian Anderson it is released on DVD this month and to celebrate we have five copies to give away!

Garai plays prostitute Sugar who escapes the confines of the brothel run by Mrs Castaway (the always fabulous Anderson) when she is taken under the wing of wealthy client William Rackham (Chris O’Dowd), meanwhile Rackham is hiding some dark secrets and Sugar is writing a novel about a prostitute who murders her clients….

With a plot line almost out of the penny dreadfuls that were all the rage in Victorian times The Crimson Petal and the White is one of the finest dramas you’ll see all year. Garai is clearly a major star in the making and watch out too for the likes of Richard E. Grant and Mark Gatiss in the cast.
