A trio of British sitcom classics are released on DVD this month in the shape of the truly legendary Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin which gets a complete series box set release as well as series two of That’s My Boy and series two of You Rang M’Lord. To celebrate we have a great prize pack up for grabs giving five of you the chance to win copies of all three shows!
Created by David Nobbs The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin is quite simply one of the finest comedy series of all time with an outstandinding central performance from Leonard Rossiter as put upon middle aged executive Reginald Perrin who decides to fake his own death to escape the daily grind he feels he his trapped in. Over the course of three seasons he realised the error of his ways, starts his own shop called Grot which then becomes a massive success and then ends up running a commune for the middle-aged and middle class. Full of classic dialogue and brilliant performances Reggie Perrin is top quality – essential to the collection of any British comedy fan.
In series 2 of That’s My Boy adopted at birth Dr Robert Price is still adapting to the fact that his domineering new housekeeper is in actual fact his real-life mother! Now settled in Ida is making her maternal presence felt in every way whilst continually locking horns with Roberts adoptive upper-class mother. Award-winning comedy legend Mollie Sugden is the real gem of this series!
Last but by no means least series 2 of You Rang M’Lord takes us back to the 1920s where the aristocratic Meldrum household is the epitome of class… divide! Upstairs live the well-to-do family courting scandal: Lord Meldrum is having an affair his daughter is sexually ambiguous his sex-mad brother has knocked up a long line of maids. Downstairs live the servants: a head butler on the fiddle, his daughter whos never been a maid & a footman who knows their secret. What’s great about You Rang is that it is written by the creators of the classic sitcom Hi-De-Hi and features pretty much the whole cast from that show too!
