Early bird season tickets are now on sale for the 2012 Illawarra Folk Festival – with predictions this year’s festival will be even better than last year’s record-breaking event that saw more than 10,000 people attend the four day event at Bulli Showground.
The 2012 festival is on from 12-15 January - four days and nights of great entertainment, including world class musicians, poetry, folk dancing and musical workshops.
International headline acts include Scottish folk singer Dougie Maclean and American folk-singing legend and political activist Peggy Seeger. MacLean’s moving song Caledonia and melody The Gael (used in The Last of the Mohicans) have been recorded by hundreds of artists, while Caledonia hit the headlines when it was launched as the main star in the Homecoming Scotland 2009 TV advertising campaign.
Regular German visitors The Beez are back in 2012, while Australian performers range from the grand dame of Australian folk-singing Judy Small to comedian/ singer Pete Denahy and Triple J indie-music favourites Skipping Girl Vinegar, who head a line-up of artists that will appeal to younger festival patrons.
