http://www.3aw.com.au/comp-ofmiceandmenStay tuned to Bruce Mansfield and Philip Brady on Nightline all this week for the chance to win one of five double passes to see Opera Australia's Of Mice and Men at the Arts Centre on Saturday 26th November.
Bruce Beresford directs the Australian premiere of Of Mice and Men, an opera based on John Steinbeck’s novella, with words and music by Carlisle Floyd, on at the Arts Centre, Melbourne from 26 November to 10 December.
American superstar, Anthony Dean Griffey, is renowned the world over for his portrayal of Lennie, his signature role. Barry Ryan, one of Australia’s best-loved baritones, gives the performance of a lifetime as the gruff and kindly George.
Of Mice and Men is a story about friendship, compassion and profound loyalty. George and Lennie are itinerant farmhands, taking work wherever they can find it (and keep it) so they can live George’s dream of a better life. Lennie is physically powerful and mentally unpredictable, unwittingly in trouble a lot of the time, and reliant on George to negotiate their lives. George is a dreamer who needs Lennie to bear witness to their dreams. Theirs is a story that will break your heart and linger in your memory long after the curtain goes down.
