Win a Story Bridge Adventure Climb and Abseil

Get your daily fix of news and views with brisbanetimes.com.au and you could win four Story Bridge Adventure Climb (SBAC) Abseil Climbs.

Since 1940 the iconic Story Bridge has been visible from all around our great city. This month SBAC launched its world-first abseil climb, allowing members of the public to climb to the top of the bridge (80 metres above the river) for panoramic views of the CBD. They then step out onto the huge white anchor pier strap onto the ropes and abseil the 33 metres to Captain Burke Park below. This is Brisbane’s ultimate adventure experience.

brisbanetimes.com.au is giving one lucky reader the chance to win a pass allowing them and three friends to be among the first in the world experience the new Abseil Climb.

To enter the draw, simply answer the question: What year was construction on the Story Bridge completed?

Send your entry complete with your details (name, age, mailing address and contact numbers) to btcomps@brisbanetimes.com.au with Bridge in the subject line.

The competition closes on December 19, 2011. [think date is incorrect according to T&C - closes 16 Dec @ 1pm ]

Opened 6 July 1940

Until it was completed the bridge was known as the Jubilee Bridge in honour of King George V.[1] It was opened on 6 July 1940 by Sir Leslie Orme Wilson, Governor of Queensland and named for John Douglas Story, a senior and influential public servant who had advocated strongly for the bridge's construction.
