Entries close at 12am (EST) on 30 April, 2012.

20 finalists will have their chirps posted online, with the ultimate winner decided by a public Pigeon Poll in May 2012.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION
 
The Good Guide has launched your virtual passport to experiencing ā€˜The Best of Brisbane’. Locals and visitors alike can compete to win ā€˜the best year of your life’ of Good Guide venue giveaways. The Gold Pigeon winner, six Silver Pigeon winners and four Bronze Pigeon winners will get to experience first hand see the leaders of independent boutique businesses our fine city has to offer.

Entry is as easy as one, two, three!
 1. Pick up the new The Good Guide ā€˜The Best of Brisbane’ available from 1 November 2011 – 30 April 2012 or head to www.thegoodguide.com.au and plan your encounters with the fabulous best of inner city Brisbane.
 2. Put together 30 sec chirps (video footage) of no less then four businesses that demonstrate what it is about the business that makes it the best of the best, in your own original style. The competition is open to anyone from any state in Australia!
 3. The entries must be received by 30 April 2012, and from the submissions 20 will be short-listed. The 20 finalists will be posted for a public vote by awarding Gold Pigeons to your favorite pigeon. The winners will be awarded to redeem their prizes between June 2012 – July 2013.

No more do you need friends or strangers to write down where’s good to go, it is at your fingertips in the launch of the one, the big, ā€˜The Best of Brisbane’ out twice a year to feed you invaluable local knowledge of the coolest places to be.
 Whether it’s climbing the Story Bridge for a little afternoon adventure, relaxing at a day spa, personal encounters with style council fashionistas, or the simple enjoyment of fine fare and a good drop, VIP access to a swanky soiree or tickets you thought you could never score.
 You and a lucky pigeon will never want the ride to end… the best year of your life!
 
ASSESSMENT
 
The Competition Process:
 ā€¢ From competition launch, all video applications will be quality assured at The Good Guide head office, Brisbane, Australia. The top 20 finalists videos will go live on the campaign website and will be assessed on the following selection criteria:
 1. What makes your top 4 venues the best of Brisbane and the creativity of your 30-second chirps.
 2. A ā€˜Pigeon Pole’ (People’s Choice) score will begin on all Top 20 video entries that have been approved to go live on the campaign website. The ā€˜Pigeon Pole’ scores will be an aggregated calculation of the following components:
 ā€¢ number of ā€˜shares’
 ā€¢ number of ā€˜likes’
 ā€¢ number of ā€˜views’
 3. On Monday, 14 May 2012, the Top 20 will be announced.
 4. After the Top 20 are announced a ā€˜Pigeon Pole’ starts to narrow the finalists to 3. The Top 3 will be announced on Monday 28 May 2012 and must be available to attend the final soiree on Wednesday 30th May, 2012 (harsh as it’s on board the luxury liner the Queen recently cruised on at Sunset with delicious catering and deluxe royal treatment = oohh!).
 5. The On Wednesday 30th May, 2012, the winner will be announced.

You must portray what makes your favourite and what is unique about their business. All entries need to be uploaded to www.thegoodguide.com.au/ winthebestofbrisbane.com.au Videos should be no more than 30 seconds long with a file size under 100MB. There’s also a brief application form to fill out online.
 Can I enter via means other than an online video entry?
 ā€¢ No, video entries for the competition will only be accepted if they are submitted to www.thegoodguide.com.au/ winthebestofbrisbane.com.au
 Will all applications be displayed online?
 ā€¢ Video applications will be moderated to ensure they’re suitable to be posted, and only the Top 20 can be viewed on the website, and will also appear in the The Good Guide Channels on YouTube.
 What should my entry/video include?
 ā€¢ Your video entry will be judged on its entertainment value and how creatively you answer the ā€˜brief’ including:

 ā€¢ Your entry will be automatically rejected as it exceeds the time limit. All videos must be 30 seconds or under, as viewed by our content management system. Any entry over this time limit will not be accepted.
 How will you process all of the video entries?
 ā€¢ From competition launch, all video applications will be quality assured by a team at The Good Guide’s head office in Brisbane, Australia. The team will view the video applications on an ongoing basis.
 Why would a video be automatically rejected?
 ā€¢ Videos are first viewed and accepted or rejected based on simple quality assurance criteria. For example, videos that contain nudity, obscenity, exceed the time limit or do not meet the brief will be rejected.

 How can I show people my video entry if I make the Top 20?
 ā€¢ Once the video has been uploaded, you’ll receive a confirmation email acknowledging receipt of the entry and a link to where it is published on the site www.thegoodguide.com.au/ winthebestofbrisbane.com.au You can share this link with your network of contacts, who can vote for your entry.
 Can I include music or imagery in my entry?
 ā€¢ Yes, music and images can be included in the entry, though you must have the appropriate licences, permissions and clearances.
 How many entries can I put in?
 ā€¢ As many as you wish, however, only one entry per person will be eligible to be in the Top 20.
 Once a video has been submitted can it be deleted / re-submitted?

 ā€¢ Yes, the score for each video entry will be displayed online.
 When will the Top 20 shortlist be announced?
 ā€¢ The Top 20 shortlist will be announced on Monday 14 May 2012.
 Will the judging process be disclosed and will the scores be shown publicly?
 ā€¢ The Good Guide has taken advice from experts in ensuring that the construction of the competition judging process is rigorous, robust and effective. It has also established quality assurance measures to make certain that all entries are judged equally, fairly and impartially on strictly applied selection criteria.
 
About the prize?
 What is the prize for this competition?
 ā€¢ The prize is 365 different experiences from venues in The Good Guide ā€˜The Best of Brisbane’ for one winner. The winner can choose friend/s as appropriate per prize. Please note that restaurants and numerous other prizes will require advance bookings to redeem.
 If my I win, is there a time limit on when my company can claim the prize?
 ā€¢ You can claim the prize between June 2012 and July 2013.
 Can we redeem the prize for cash?
 ā€¢ No.
 Will the winning person/s need to be involved in further PR opportunities?
 ā€¢ We envisage there will be some media interest expressed in the winning persons, and how this will be facilitated will be discussed with the winners.

By submitting a video entry, you shall be deemed to have accepted the following terms and conditions.
 ā€¢ Indivisduals must meet the following eligibility criteria. Entries which do not fulfill the criteria will be rejected.
 ā€¢ To enter the competition, you must
 Produce a video of no more than 30 seconds in length filmed in your selection of at least four of your favourite The Good Guide venues, one from each nest.
 Ensure that at least the venue appears in each video
 Submit your video with your contact details by upload to the competition website, www.thegoodguide.com.au/winthebestofbrisbane.com.au(ā€œthe Siteā€).
 ā€¢ The competition opens at 07.05 Queensland local time on 1 November 2012 and closes at 16.59 Queensland local time on 30 April 2012. Any entries received by The Good Guide after the closing time including delayed or misdirected entries, or entries, which are not received due to server function or technical difficulties, will not be accepted.
 ā€¢ You may submit numerous entries into the competition.
 ā€¢ The winners will be in selected as the sole discretion of TGG. The decision is final. Selection of shortlisted and final winner entries shall be at the absolute discretion of The Good Guide.

By submitting a video entry, you shall be deemed to have accepted the following terms and conditions.
• Indivisduals must meet the following eligibility criteria. Entries which do not fulfill the criteria will be rejected.
• To enter the competition, you must
Produce a video of no more than 30 seconds in length filmed in your selection of at least four of your favourite The Good Guide venues, one from each nest.
Ensure that at least the venue appears in each video
Submit your video with your contact details by upload to the competition website, www.thegoodguide.com.au/winthebestofbrisbane.com.au(ā€œthe Siteā€).
• The competition opens at 07.05 Queensland local time on 1 November 2012 and closes at 16.59 Queensland local time on 30 April 2012. Any entries received by The Good Guide after the closing time including delayed or misdirected entries, or entries, which are not received due to server function or technical difficulties, will not be accepted.
• You may submit numerous entries into the competition.
• The winners will be in selected as the sole discretion of TGG. The decision is final. Selection of shortlisted and final winner entries shall be at the absolute discretion of The Good Guide.
• You undertake that:
Your entry is an original.
Any music or images used are accompanied with appropriate licences, permissions and clearances enabling TGG and its licensees to publish, broadcast, communicate and distribute the video content in all media formats.
You own and control all of the rights to the video content or you otherwise have the lawful right to distribute such content.
The video content is accurate and not misleading.
The video does not contain any obscene, defamatory, inappropriate or unlawful material.
The use and posting or other transmission of the video content will not violate the rights of any person or entity.
You agree to indemnify TGG and its authorised licensees for any breach of these warranties.
• You agree to grant TGG a free non-exclusive, perpetual licence to use, exploit and otherwise exercise all rights comprised in the copyright in the video content throughout the world in any media, including the right to sublicence to others at our discretion.
• You consent unconditionally and irrevocably, to the fullest extent permitted by law, to any and all acts or omissions, of TGG in respect of the video content which would, but for this consent, infringe any of your moral rights (as defined in the Copyright Amendment (Moral Rights) Act 2000) in respect of the video content.
• TGG takes no responsibility and assumes no liability for any content posted, stored or uploaded on its website, nor is TGG liable for any mistakes, defamation, omissions, falsehoods, or obscenity in relation to the content.
• TGG reserves the right in its absolute discretion to disqualify and remove from its website:
any entries that TGG considers manipulative, unrepresentative, or disproportionate; or
any entries who corrupt or affect, or attempt to corrupt or affect, the administration, security, fairness or proper conduct of the selection process.
• By entering this competition, you subscribe to receive online updates and communications from TGG concerning the competition.
• TGG reserves the right to change or modify any of these terms and conditions at any time. Any changes or modifications will be effective immediately upon their posting on its webbsite.
The laws of Queensland, Australia govern the competition and these terms and conditions.

Music and images can be included in the entry, though you must have the appropriate licences, permissions and clearances.
