“CityNews” has three double tickets, valued at $158 each, to the opening night of “Yes, Prime Minister” at the Canberra Theatre on Wednesday, March 21.
This is the first stage play of the hit BBC television series from the original writers Jonathan Lynn and Antony Jay.
Starring Philip Quast (“Mary Poppins”) as the cynical Cabinet Secretary, Sir Humphrey Appleby, and familiar Australian TV star Mark Owen-Taylor (“Two Twisted”, “All Saints”, “A Country Practice”) will play the embattled Prime Minister Jim Hacker.
Set in the present day, in the oak-panelled drawing room at Chequers, the British Prime Minister’s official country residence, the PM, Sir Humphrey and hapless assistant Bernard (played by John Lloyd-Fillingham) face their greatest challenge yet. There’s the GFC, rising oil prices, minority governments, illegal immigrants and global warming to contend with.
