SUNDAY HERALD SUN TEN OF THE BEST COMEDY FESTIVAL COMPETITION
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. The promoter is The Herald & Weekly Times Pty Ltd (ABN 49 004 113 937) of 40 City Road
Southbank, Victoria 3006.
2. Instructions on how to enter form part of the conditions of entry. The judge’s decision is final
and no correspondence will be entered into.
3. Entry is only open to residents of Victoria. Employees of the promoter and their immediate
families, directors, management, related companies, and their agencies associated with this
promotion are ineligible. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, defacto
spouse, child or step-child (whether by natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent,
grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, stepsister
or first cousin
4. To enter, readers must SMS their name and address to 19 777 969. SMS cost 55 cents
including GST.
5. The competition commences at 12.01am AEDT on Sunday March 18, 2012 and concludes the
same day at 23.59pm (AEDT) (“the Competition Period”).
6. Multiple entries accepted provided that each entry is submitted separately in accordance with
the entry instructions.7. The SMS entry mechanic is only open to readers with an SMS compatible mobile phone
connected to a service provider which permits text messaging to the promotional SMS number.
It is recommended that entrants check with their individual service provider in this regard. For
SMS help call 1300 131 276.
8. SMS entries via internet or computer generation are invalid and will not be accepted.
9. The time of entry will in each case be the time the SMS message is received by Salmat IDR,
Level 2 116 Miller Street, North Sydney, NSW 2060.
10. The Promoter, its agents, affiliates or representatives will not be liable for any lost, late or
misdirected entries.
11. The winners will be the first four valid entries drawn at random from the pool of entrants. The
draw will take place at 10.00 am (AEDT) on Monday March 19, 2012 at Salmat IDR, Level 2,
116 Miller Street, North Sydney, NSW 2060.
12. Each of the four winners drawn will receive two tickets to the following shows at the Melbourne
International Comedy Festival;
• Hannah Gadsby on Thursday March 29 at 7pm at Victoria Hotel Melbourne.
• Greg Behrendt on Thursday March 29 at 9.45pm at the Melbourne Town Hall.
• Mark Thomas on Friday March 30 at 7.30pm at Trades Hall Carlton.
• Dead Cat Bounce on Friday March 30 at 9.45pm at Trades Hall Carlton.
• Des Bishop on Sunday April 1 at 7.15pm at the Hi-Fi Melbourne.The Hi-Fi
• Anne Edmonds on Tuesday April 3 at 7.15pm at the Melbourne Town Hall.
• Sammy J & Randy on Wednesday April 4 at 8.30pm at the Forum Theatre Melbourne.
• Cal Wilson on Thursday April 5 at 8.15pm at the Melbourne Town Hall.
• Kate McLennan on Wednesday April 11 at 7.15pm at Victoria Hotel Melbourne.
• Simon Amstell on Thursday April 12 at 8.15pm at the Melbourne Town Hall.
Each prize it is valued at $526.Total prize pool valued at $2104.
13. Winners will be notified by phone call, writing and their name will be published in the Herald Sun
Public Notices on Thursday March 22, 2012.
14. If the winner of any prize is under the age of 16 years, the prize will be awarded to the winner’s
nominated parent or guardian. Entrants under the age of 16 years must obtain the prior
permission of a parent or guardian who is over the age of 16 years before entering the
competition. Some shows may not allow persons under the age of 18 to attend, or may regard
parents or guardians to accompany people under the age of 18.
15. Transport to/from the events and any additional costs are the responsibility of the prize winner/s.
16. All tickets are issued subject to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival conditions of sale
and entry.
17. Tickets will be mailed to winners. Allow 7 days for delivery. The Promoter and the Melbourne
International Comedy Festival accept no responsibility for any lost, damaged or misdirected mail
resulting in the loss of tickets.
18. The prize is not exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. The Promoter accepts no
responsibility for any variation in the prize value.
19. In the event that a winner does not take the prize at the time and place stipulated, then the prize
will be forfeited by the winner and cash will not be awarded in lieu of the prize. Prizes must be
taken as offered and cannot be varied. Any unused portion of the prize is not-transferable, nonrefundable
and non-redeemable for other goods or services and cannot be taken as cash.
20. To the full extent permitted by the law, the Promoter and the Melbourne International Comedy
Festival exclude liability for any loss, damage or injury whatsoever suffered or sustained
(including, but not limited to direct, indirect, special or consequential loss or damage, loss of
opportunity revenue or profit) arising directly or indirectly out of or in connection with this
promotion, including attendance at the venue.
21. The Promoter and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival accept no responsibility if the
event is cancelled, or the date is re-scheduled for any reason whatsoever. If the prize or any
part of the prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond the Promoters’ control, the Promoter
will endeavor but is not obliged to provide a substitute prize of equivalent value.
22. The Promoter collects entrants’/claimants’ personal information in order to conduct the
promotion. If the information requested is not provided, the entrant/claimant may not participate
in the promotion. The Promoter may share entrants’/claimants’ information with persons or
entities assisting in the conduct of the promotion and with companies who are prize partners. By
participating in the promotion, unless otherwise advised, each entrant/claimant also agrees that
the Promoter may use this information to contact the entrant/claimant by any means (including
SMS or e-mail) at any time in the future to let them know about goods, services and promotions
which may be of interest to them without any further reference, payment or other compensation
