A Royal Affair is a Danish historical drama about the true story of Queen Caroline Mathilde (Alicia Vikander) who was married to the mentally ill King Christian VII (Mikkel Følsgaard), but fell in love with the royal physician, Dr Struensee (Mads Mikkelsen), and the political change that scandal led to.
