20 x In-Season Double Passes To ‘Polisse’, courtesy of CuriousScore tickets to this acclaimed French feature, which unsettlingly delves into the trials of Paris's Juvenile Protection Unit.
French star turned writer/director Maïwenn's third feature is a tough-as-nails drama about the hardened cops who work in the CPU (Child Protection Unit) on the mean streets of Paris. Maïwenn spent months doing painstaking research with real CPU officers in preparation for the film, and it shows in a razor-sharp screenplay that features unflinching emotion, rapid-fire dialogue and plenty of black humour. The outstanding cast, including Karin Viard and French rapper JoeyStarr, absolutely inhabit their characters as they go about the grim business of investigating child sexual abuse and teen rape while fighting bureaucracy, bickering with each other and trying desperately to keep perspective.
