Surf Life Saving Clubs are perched on some of the most picturesque places in the world; our beaches. They’re also exposed to the harsh and often unforgiving weather that blows in off the sea. They’ve seen their fair share of stunning sunrises too. It’s hard to take a bad photo of a building when its surroundings change so dramatically depending on the season, time of day and weather conditions.
We’re giving you the chance to win $1000 for your favourite Surf Life Saving Club and $250 for your own back pocket by taking a photo of your club. We’re really interested in seeing photos that show your Surf Life Saving Club in different weather conditions (rain, hail or shine) or photos before, during or after the repaint.
We’ll be choosing one winning photo each month from July to November 2012. That’s five winners in total.
How to submit photos
There are three ways to submit your photo:
- Upload your photo to Instagram and tag it with #duluxsurf
- Upload your photo to Flickr and tag it with #duluxsurf
- Email your photo to
surfclubproject@dulux.com.auYou only need to submit your photo via one of the methods listed above. You can enter as many photos as you like, and entries must be received/submitted by the end of each competition month (July – November 2012) to be eligible.
Judging criteria
Entries will be judged by representatives from Dulux and Surf Life Saving Australia on the quality and creativity of the shot.
Quality: judged on clarity, resolution and technique.
Creativity: judged on uniqueness of events captured (eg. photo taken during storm or during painting), composition, lighting and style.
Announcing the winners
Monthly winners will be notified via email and announced on the Dulux Surf Club Project website and the Dulux Facebook page in the first week of the following competition month.

By participating in the competition and submitting a photograph, you:
- warrant that the photograph is your own original work and will not infringe the intellectual property rights of any other person;
- agree to forgo any rights you have in relation to the photograph and acknowledge that Dulux Australia may use, reproduce and publish the photograph for any purpose, in perpetuity and throughout the world; and
- agree to the Dulux Australia Site Terms of Use, particularly the User Content section.
The five (5) best entries judged by Dulux Group (Australia) and SLSA as the most creative and of the highest quality will each win $1,000AUD for the Surf Life Saving Club, as nominated by the entrant . The five (5) Photographers for each of the winning entries, as nominated by the entrant will also each win $250AUD. Prize to be awarded via cheque or bank deposit. Total Prize pool $6,250. The winner will be announced on the Dulux blog and the Dulux Australia Facebook page by the 07/08/2012, 07/09/2012, 07/10/2012, 07/11/2012, and 07/12/2012. If this date falls on the weekend it will be announced the following Monday. Winners will be contacted by either phone/email within 7 days of winners being announced to arrange fulfilment of their prize. The promoter’s decision is final with no correspondence entered into.
