About the film
Winner of seven Academy Awards® including Best Picture, Best Director (George Roy Hill) and Best
Original Screenplay, The Sting is revered as one of the most critically acclaimed films of the twentieth
century. This spectacular film, originally released in 1973, has been digitally re‐mastered and is now
available for the first time ever on Blu‐rayâ„¢ from June 6th 2012.

The Sting tells the tale of a pair of con artists in the 1930s, with Paul Newman and Robert Redford
starring as crooks setting out to fleece a big‐time mobster and pull off one of the greatest double‐crosses
in movie history. As the pair attempt to carry out their scam under the noses of both the Chicago mob
and the police, the plot twists and turns to reveal a thrilling and surprising conclusion.

The Sting features a stellar ensemble cast, including Eileen Brennan, Ray Walston, Charles Durning, and
Harold Gould, as well as the Academy Award® winning costume designs of Edith Head all set to the
instantly recognisable soundtrack of Scott Joplin’s swing‐time music.

As part of Universal Pictures 100 year’s celebration, The Sting has an all‐new, digitally re‐mastered and
fully restored picture as well as 5.1 surround sound. In addition, The Sting Blu‐rayâ„¢ disc also comes in
limited edition gatefold packaging featuring background information to the film, giving fans the ultimate
insight into this Hollywood classic.

One of the most entertaining and successful movies of the early 1970s, The Sting showcases Hollywood’s
golden age of the ’30s with style and panache.
