Win $1000 to create or expand your school vegie garden.  Enter by October 10.

Kitchen and food gardens promote environmental and sustainability learning.

Thanks to IGA two classes will win $1,000 to establish or expand their school gardens.

TO ENTER:
You may enter as a class or as an individual student.
Sketch and label a plan on A4 paper for a new school vegie garden OR show your existing school vegie garden and how you want to expand or improve it
On the back of your page, write in less than 150 words, why your class/school should win the $1,000 to establish or expand your school vegie patch.
Print your first name and surname, school, suburb and year level.
Ask your teacher to print their name and sign your entry.

All entries must be received by Noon, Wednesday October 10, 2012

1. Instructions on how to enter, prize details and other information contained within the promotional
advertisements form part of these terms and conditions.
2. Entry is open to all primary and secondary classes and schools in Western Australia. 
3. Competition opens Tuesday, 21
st
 August, 2012 and closes on Wednesday 10
th
 October, 2012.
4. A class or individual students may enter.  Prizes will be awarded to schools not individuals.
5. To enter a class or individual must sketch a plan for their garden on an A4 piece of paper.   Then
on the back of the drawing write (in less than 150 words) why their class/school should win the
$1000 to establish or expand their school vegetable patch.  Each entry must have class or
individual name, school name, suburb and year level included as well as a teacher’s printed name
and signature.  Entries need to be posted to: The West Australian NIE Garden Contest, GPO
Box 2923 PERTH 6800 by last mail on Wednesday 10th October 2012
6. There are two major prizes of $1000 that will be awarded to the two schools who judges deem to
have the best plans for either the development or expansion of a vegetable patch.
7. It is a condition of entry that the $1000 will only be used for the establishment or enhancement of
a vegetable patch at the winning schools.
8. Winning schools must display a sign provided that acknowledges IGA as supporting the local
community in their vegetable garden for at least a 12 month period.
9. The winning schools must agree to supply photographs of the establishment or expansion progress
of the vegetable patch that will be published in The West Australian and/ or The West Australian
Newspapers In Education website. 
10. The winners will be judged and notified by telephone on October 16
th
 2012
11. It is a condition of entry that all prize winners agree to have their name and suburb published for
publicity purposes if required. By participating  in this competition, participants signify their
acceptance of all conditions and the requirement to participate in promotional activity if
required.
12. In participating in the competition, entrants agree to participate and co-operate as required in all
editorial activities relating to the competition, including but not limited to being interviewed and
photographed.  The winner agrees to grant the Promoter a perpetual and exclusive licence to use
such footage and photographs, as well as their actual entries (whether on DVD or photograph) in
all media worldwide and the winner will not be entitled to any fee for such use.  The winner
agrees they will not, and will ensure that their companions do not, sell or otherwise provide their
story and/or photographs to any media or other organisation.
13. On completion of the prize draw, entries will be kept by The West Australian for twelve months.
This is a mandatory requirement of the Gaming and Wagering Act WA. All coupon entries will be
destroyed after this time period. No personal details will be recorded.
14. By entering this competition you agree to allow the Promoter and its partners in this promotion to
contact you for any future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes. All entries become the
property of the Promoter.
15. All contestants release from, and indemnify the Promoter against, all liability, cost, loss or
expense arising out of acceptance of any prize(s) or participation in the competition including (but
not limited to) loss of income, personal injury and damage to property and whether direct or
consequential, foreseeable, due to some negligent act or omission or otherwise. 16. The Promoter and associated agencies accept no responsibility for any loss, damage, accident,
death or injury resulting from the promotion.
17. Entry into this competition signifies acceptance of all conditions. The Promoters’ decision will be
final and cannot be contested. No correspondence will be entered into. The Promoters reserve the
right to limit entry or amend rules if considered necessary without notice. 
18. Employees of The West Australian, their subsidiaries and immediate families are ineligible to
enter.
