Entries are deemed to be received at the time they are received by the Promoter’s database and not at the time of submission by the entrant. Entrants who make a Venue Eligible Purchase may enter no more than once per day and each entry must be based on a separate Venue Eligible Purchase and a separate game card/unique code. Entrants who make an Outlet Eligible Purchase may enter as many times as they wish, provided that each entry is based on a separate Outlet Eligible Purchase. In the event of a dispute regarding a prize awarded to an SMS entrant, the prize will be awarded to the owner of the relevant mobile phone number.

10. SMS entry is only open to consumers with an SMS compatible mobile phone connected to a service provider which permits text messaging to the promotional SMS number. Consumers should check with their network service provider to see if their mobile phone is compatible. SMS service provider is Prime Focus, SMS queries: 1800 818 957.

11. A draw will be conducted at 12pm (AEST) on 17/09/12 at Prime Focus, 403/62 Beach Street, Port Melbourne Victoria 3207. The first 20 valid entries randomly drawn from all valid entries received (excluding previous prize winners (other than for SA residents)) will win a prize.

12. There are 20 prizes to be won. Each prize is an AFL Grand Final experience for the winner and one companion (who must be aged 18 years or over) which includes: ◦2 return economy airfares (including airfare taxes) from the winner’s nearest Australian capital city to Melbourne, Victoria. If any winner is a Victorian resident, flights are not included and the winner and their companion are responsible for making their own way to and from the hotel;
◦2 nights twin share accommodation at a minimum 4 star hotel in Melbourne (as selected by the Promoter) including daily breakfast. Any winners from WA will receive 3 nights accommodation;
◦return bus transfers between Melbourne airport and the hotel for 2 people; a tour of the MCG for the winner and their companion;
◦2x tickets to attend the Carlton Draught Pre-Grand Final dinner hosted by selected AFL football stars for the winner and their companion valued at $900 (inc GST);

All other costs associated with the prize, including but not limited to any meals, additional transfer costs, additional taxes, insurance, spending money and other ancillary costs are the responsibility of the winner and their companion, as incurred. The winner and their companion/s must depart and return at the same time. The prize is subject to any additional terms and conditions specified by the prize supplier/s. Each prize is valued at up to $25,000 (inc GST), depending on the winner’s point of departure.

14. The total prize pool is valued at up to $500,000 (inc GST), depending on each winner’s point of departure.

15. The winners will be notified by phone and in writing within 2 days of the draw and their name and state/territory of residence will be published in The Australian on 19/09/12. By entering this competition, each entrant requests that his or her full address not be published.

16. The winners will have until 5.00pm (AEST) on 20/09/12 to claim their prize. If, after making all reasonable attempts, the Promoter cannot contact the drawn winner/s (or a drawn winner does not contact the Promoter by 5.00pm (AEST) on 20/09/12), the Promoter reserves the right to discard that entry and to draw another winner at 10.00am (AEST) on 21/09/12 (at the same location as the original draw). Any winners in this draw will be notified by phone and in writing immediately after the draw and will have their name and state/territory of residence published in The Australian on 24/09/12.

17. The prize winners (and their companions) must, at the Promoter’s request, participate in all promotional activity (such as publicity and photography) surrounding the winning of any prize, free of charge, and they consent to the Promoter using their name and image in promotional material.

18. The Promoter may require winners to provide proof of identity, proof of age and proof of residency. Identification considered suitable for verification is at the Promoter’s discretion.

19. If a winning entry is deemed not to comply with these conditions of entry including if a winner is unable to take the prize between 28/09/12 to 30/09/12 (inclusive), the entry will be discarded and a new winner of that prize will be determined by drawing a further valid entry in accordance with paragraph 11.

20. The Promoter may, in its sole discretion, disqualify all entries from, and prohibit further participation in this competition by, any person who tampers with or benefits from any tampering with the entry process or with the operation of the competition or acts in violation of these conditions, acts in a disruptive manner or acts with the intent or effect of annoying, abusing, threatening or harassing any other person. The Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the prize or otherwise cease to provide any benefit of the prize to a winner (and their companion, if applicable) if the winner (or their companion, if applicable), in the opinion of the Promoter, is under the influence of alcohol or any other drug, behaves aggressively or offensively, or behaves in a manner which may diminish the good name or reputation of the Promoter or any of its related bodies corporate or the agencies or companies associated with this competition, is contrary to law or is otherwise inappropriate. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

21. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash. If for any reason a winner does not take an element of a prize at the time stipulated by the Promoter then that element of the prize will be forfeited by the winner and cash will not be supplied in lieu of that element of the prize. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in prize value. If a prize or any element of a prize is unavailable for any reason, the Promoter may substitute for that prize or element of that prize another item of equal or higher value as determined by the Promoter, subject to the approval of the gaming authorities in each state and territory if required.

22. Without limiting the previous paragraph, if the 2012 AFL Grand Final on 29/09/12 is abandoned, called off or postponed for any reason, the winners forfeit the 2x tickets to the 2012 AFL Grand Final and all other elements of the prize which are not capable of being taken. No cash or alternative tickets will be substituted for that component of the prize. Winners will still receive the other components of the prize provided that such prizes must still be taken between 28/09/12 to 30/09/12 (inclusive).

23. There will be a total of 2,462,000 game cards printed.

24. Game cards from any other competition are not valid for this competition.

25. Printing and other quality control errors outside the Promoter’s control will not invalidate an otherwise valid prize claim. Game cards are void if stolen, forged, mutilated or tampered with in any way.

26. The Promoter and its associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense, damage, personal injury or death which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with this competition or accepting or using any prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law).

27. Without limiting the previous paragraph, the Promoter and its associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any damage or delay in transit to prizes.

28. The Promoter may communicate or advertise this competition using Facebook. The competition however, is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. Entrants are providing their information to the Promoter and not to Facebook. Each entrant completely releases Facebook from any and all liability.

29. If for any reason any aspect of this competition is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of computer virus, communications network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failure or any cause beyond the control of the Promoter, the Promoter may in its sole discretion cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition, or invalidate any affected entries, subject to the approval of the gaming authorities in each state and territory if required.

30. The Promoter is not liable for any tax implications arising from prize winnings. Independent financial advice should be sought. Where this competition involves, for GST purposes, supplies being made for non-monetary consideration, entrants will follow the Australian Taxation Office’s stated view that where the parties are at arm’s length, goods and services exchanged are of equal GST inclusive market values.

31. All entries will be the property of the Promoter. The information entrants provide will be used by the Promoter for the purpose of conducting this competition. The Promoter may disclose entrants’ personal information to its contractors and agents to assist in conducting this competition or communicating with entrants. By entering this competition, entrants consent to the storage of their personal information on the Promoter’s database and the Promoter may use this information for future competition and marketing purposes regarding its products, including contacting the entrant via electronic messaging. By entering this competition, entrants consent to receiving SMS or email messages from the Promoter that do not contain any functional unsubscribe facility. The Promoter is bound by the National Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.
