Pierce Brosnan plays Philip, a widower whose gruff, unsentimental character starts to thaw when he meets Ida (Trine Dyrholm) at the wedding of their children. Ida’s husband has just left her for a younger woman from the typing pool, and when all the families descend on the beautiful old Italian villa in the luscious surroundings of Sorrento where the wedding will be held, all of the meticulous and idyllic plans go out the window.
