Folk Uke has appeared across the country at venues ranging from NYC’s Hard Rock Café, Hempstalk, The Woody Guthrie Festival, New Orleans’s Tipitina’s, Willie’s Fourth of July Picnic, John Trudell’s Give Love Give Life project and Australia’s Tamworth Country Music Festival. In 2005 they released Folk Uke, their self-titled debut CD, which has earned them a cult following and has caught the attention of anyone who has been exposed to them. Their vocal harmonies are sweet; their melodies are contagious; and their lyrics are explicit. They've got upcoming shows on January 3rd at The Brass Monkey in Cronulla and January 4th at The Basement in Sydney.
Delivered from the mythic north Ontario wilderness, Hawksley arrived on the scene over a decade ago with a fearlessness rooted in an undeniable vocal panache. This Juno Award winning wild card has already cemented his place as an emblem of Canadian culture here and abroad.Hawksley’s latest work takes him to the stage for The Got That Comes, an original one-man-band cabaret/rock & roll hybrid show. This concept album for the stage tells the story of the Greco-Roman god of wine Bacchus (or Dionysus). His solo performance fuses the chaotic revelry of a rock concert with the intimacy of theatrical storytelling. He's got upcoming shows on January 4th at Northcote Social Club in Melbourne, January 5th at The Basement in Sydney and January 6th at The Brass Monkey in Cronulla
