It is also essential that your story is verifiable. Winning entries may be disseminated to the media and interviews may be requested.
The article, video, or photo must be uploaded through the entry form.
Entries must be received prior to 11:55pm AEDT on 28 January, 2013.

Information on the competition, prize and how to enter forms part of these terms and conditions. By applying for this prize you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and all decisions by the promoter (the Department for Foreign Affairs and Trade), which are final in all matters relating to promotion. Any changes to these conditions of entry will be published on the competition’s website: mytraveltale.com.au.
The promoter is the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of R.G. Casey Building, Barton in the Australian Capital Territory.
This competition is open to Australian citizens aged 18 years and over except employees of DFAT, its affiliated organisations, and members of their immediate families or households.
Entries for the competition can be submitted from 18 November 2012 at 9am AEDT and entries close on 28 January 2013 at 11:55pm AEDT. Entries are deemed to be received at the time of receipt by DFAT and DFAT’s records are conclusive as to the time of receipt. All dates are subject to change if necessary in DFAT’s sole discretion. DFAT accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected submissions or any errors or failures in internet or other communications.
Submissions will be judged by a panel from the competition’s promotion team. The judging will be conducted at R.G. Casey Building, John McEwen Crescent, Barton ACT 0221 and winners will be announced on 22 February 2013. All decisions of the judging panel are final and no correspondence will be entered into, including in the event of a dispute. Chance plays no part in determining the successful prize recipient. DFAT is not obliged to select any of the entries.
The entries judged first, second and third will receive a travel voucher. First place will receive a $3000 travel voucher, second place will receive a $2000 travel voucher and third place will receive a $1000 travel voucher. The prize is non-transferable and is not redeemable for cash or exchange.
The prize recipient will be notified by phone or email and the recipient’s name will be published on the competition’s website within 14 days after selection.
If the prize recipient is not immediately identifiable or contactable, DFAT will make reasonable efforts to identify and/or contact the prize recipient. If the prize recipient does not accept the prize within 7 days, DFAT reserves the right to select an alternative winner.
DFAT reserves the right, at any time and in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate or suspend the competition. In the event that the competition is cancelled, terminated or suspended, DFAT is under no obligation to return any entries and will not be held liable for any loss, damage, costs or expenses incurred by any person in connection with the competition.
The prize recipient agrees that acceptance of the prize by the recipient is conditional upon compliance with all relevant laws, rules and regulations and upon the prize recipient releasing DFAT and its affiliates, subsidiaries, directors, officers, employees and agents, from any and all liability, claims, demands and causes of action for any personal injury or other loss or damage (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) suffered in connection with the acceptance or use of the prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law. DFAT reserves the right to disqualify the prize recipient at its absolute discretion in the event of non-compliance or the failure to provide such releases.
As the author/creator of your entry, you warrant that your entry is original and your own work and it does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party. By submitting an entry in the competition, you agree not to instigate, support, maintain or authorise any action or claim against DFAT, or any other person, on the grounds that any use of the entry infringes any of your rights, including, without limitation, copyrights or moral rights.
