2012 marks not only the release of Michael Connelly’s brand new novel, The Black Box but also the twentieth anniversary of Michael Connelly’s first Harry Bosch thriller, The Black Echo.



To celebrate Connelly’s famous and much-loved LAPD detective we are asking you to test your wits in our trivia quiz and show us how well you’ve gotten to know Bosch over the last twenty years.

The winner will be chosen by Michael Connelly himself. All entrants who correctly answer all 6 trivia questions will receive a 20th anniversary edition of The Black Echo.

1. Information on how to enter and the prize form part of these Conditions of Entry.

2. The Promoter is Allen & Unwin Pty Ltd (A.B.N 79 003 994 278) of 83 Alexander Street, Crows Nest, NSW 2065.

3. A purchase of a specially stickered copy of The Black Box by Michael Connelly during the competition period entitles a person to enter the 'Win a Bose Entertainment System' competition. Entry is open to Australian and New Zealand residents only. Employees of Allen & Unwin Pty Ltd, anyone else connected to Allen & Unwin, and their immediate families are ineligible to enter. Eligible people (Entrants) who enter online at www.allenandunwin.com/competitions in accordance with these Conditions of Entry will be eligible to win. One (1) Entrant will be selected as the winner.

4. To enter, a person must complete the ‘Win a Bose Entertainment System’ competition online entry form in full on the Allen and Unwin website www.allenandunwin.com/competitions during the competition period and retain their original proof of purchase (receipt) which will need to be produced by the winner. Only one (1) entry per purchase is allowed.

5. The entry submitted will be taken as the Entrant’s acceptance of assigning all rights and interests including but not limited to copyright and all other intellectual property rights of the Entrant’s to Allen & Unwin. Allen & Unwin reserves the right to edit or alter the Entrant’s submission.

11.    Competition commences 00:01 (AEST) on 21/11/2012. Entries close 5.00pm (AEST) on 28/2/2013 (the Competition period). Any entry received after that date will be ineligible. Entry by any person will be taken as acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. There will be one prize draw which will be conducted at 10.00am (AEST) on 7/3/2013 at the Promoter’s office. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

12.    The winning entry will be notified in writing and by phone and be announced online on www.allenandunwin.com/competitions by 8/3/2013


13.    The winner must produce their original proof of purchase (receipt itemising The Black Box) to be eligible to claim the prize. If the winner fails to produce their original proof of purchase they forfeit the prize.

14.    If the winner of a prize is under the age of 18 years, the prize will be awarded to the winner's nominated parent or guardian.

15.    The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for personal injury which is suffered or sustained, as a result of taking the prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.

16.    Allen & Unwin will not accept responsibility for late entries, ailed, partial or garbled computer transmissions, or for technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to electronic malfunction or damage of any network, hardware or software. Entries that are forged, incomplete, illegible or do not comply with the terms and conditions will be deemed invalid.
