QueensPlaza Avant Garde Design 2013
Who can enter the 2013 Avant Garde Competition?
Current Students or any person who has completed study in the last 12 months related to fashion design or millinery are eligible to enter this competition. The Competition is open for entries on February 11, 2013 and close on March 22, 2013.
What are the criteria to enter the competition?
 Entrants must be enrolled (or were in the past 12 months) in a QLD Education Facility.
 Each entrant must send in a minimum of 3 (maximum of 5) semi-professional, high resolution, portrait images showcasing their Avant Garde design. Digital copies are also to be supplied on CD.
 Entrants must answer a small questionnaire about themselves and their design, for example - inspiration, an explanation of why their design is Avant Garde, future goals and why they have chosen this path.
 The student or past student must provide details of the institute or place of work where they are studying or have recently studied. This must include course organiser contact details.
How are the top finalists from each category selected?
The QueensPlaza team including the creative director, art director, photographer, account manager and marketing team will review the entries and determine up to 15 entries that are the best. The QueensPlaza team will be looking for the entries that demonstrate experimental and innovative ideas, something that is clearly pushing the boundaries of the norm or status quo. Avant Garde represents being ahead of the majority, in a nutshell - a fashion forward individualistic look.
How are the entrant’s photos used by QueensPlaza?
As part of the entry into the competition, the entrant must agree to their images being used for promotional purposes during and after the campaign concludes for a period of up to 12 months. These images will mainly be used, but not limited to, the promotion of the competition, the voting process and publicity for QueensPlaza. Photographers will not be given credit for the photos.
What is the benefit of entering a sustainable design?
Any sustainable design as detailed in the entry form, will be awarded 50 bonus voting points. This could be the difference between the overall winner and coming second. QueensPlaza would like to encourage students to think about sustainable fashion and reward those for further thinking outside the norm.
How is the overall winner determined?
After the finalists have been selected, they will be put to a public vote. This will include a display in centre of the images, as well as on the QueensPlaza website and Facebook page. The public vote online for their favourite design. The public vote will be open from April 2 to 21, 2013. The entrant with the most votes will be named the winner. The QueensPlaza team will also be awarding the best design as chosen by them. This will be based on the design itself and the inspiration as detailed in the entry form.
What are the major prizes?
The QueensPlaza Avant Garde Design Competition will offer the winners a major prize that consists of a two week internship with Akira Isogawa valued at over $10,000 each
