This very special Canberra Theatre Centre season brings together great drama and dance from every State and Territory and the winning mum will be going to see: “Symmetries” by the Australian Ballet, a tribute to one of Australia’s greatest monuments, Parliament House, in its 25th year (May 23-25). Version 1.0’s “The Major Minor Party”, which explores the rise of the ACT-based Australian Sex Party (May 29-June 1). “Hipbone Sticking Out”, which grabs world history by the throat, spins it upside down and sets its teeth rattling (July 3-6). “Jack Charles versus The Crown”, the story of an Australian legend told by him: veteran actor, Koori elder, activist and, until recently, heroin addict and cat-burglar (July 17-19). Tim Winton’s “Shrine”, exploring the aftermath of a tragic event (September 26-29). The "Collected Works" demonstrate how rich the collective endeavours of our performing arts creators and companies are. State arts departments have generously contributed to this season in recognition of the Centenary of Canberra, acknowledging that the best work deserves to be seen in the national capital.
