Can you’re school class Paint a horse like Picasso?
The Cairns Amateurs & Cairns Post is challenging ten local primary & secondary schools to showcase their creative talents by painting & decorating a life sized fibreglass horse.
The winning school will receive $2,000 cash & two runners up will receive$1,000 worth of Cairns Central Gift Vouchers. All entries will be judged by the public at The Cairns Show, Cairns Post Stall from 17th-19th of July.
To nominate your class ask your teacher to register their details below before Thursday, 16th May.

Terms and Conditions
By entering the PAINT A FILLY CHALLENGE “Promotion”, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:
1. STANDARD TERMS
1.1 Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry.
2. WHO CAN ENTER?
2.1 Subject to clause 2.2, entry is open only to all schools from the Cairns area - All entrants on behalf of schools (teachers) must be able to show proof of residency upon request e.g. Drivers Licence.
2.2 Employees of The Cairns Post Pty Ltd are not eligible to enter.
3. HOW TO ENTER
3.1 The competition commences on Thursday, 2nd May at 00:01 (AEST) and concludes on Friday, 19th July at 12:00 (“the Competition Period”).
3.2 To enter the competition, teachers must log on to
www.cairns.com.au/competitions during the competition period & enter their details, including their full name, school & class name, school address, postcode, daytime phone, mobile.
3.3 Teachers must nominate all classes who wish to participate in the competition.
3.4 All schools who nominate must abide by the following competition dates:
• Horses Dispatched to Schools: Monday, 20th May
• SCHOOL HOLIDAYS: 21st June – 7th July
• Horses Completed by: Friday, 12th July
• Horses Collected from Schools: Monday, 15th July
4. PRIZE PACKAGE
Winning Class First Prize: $2000.00 ($1000.00 The Cairns Post & $1000.00 Cairns Amateurs)
Winning Class 2nd Prize: $1000.00 worth of Cairns Central Gift Vouchers
Winning Class 3rd Prize: $1000.00 worth of Cairns Central Gift Vouchers
Nomination Prizes: The ten schools chosen to participation in the competition will receive a $100.00 voucher from Overflow to purchase materials to decorate their horses.
TOTAL PRIZE POOL VALUE: $4,000.00
4.1 The full complement of the prize must be taken as offered and is not redeemable for cash or any other services.
4.2 The prize will be forfeited if the winner does not redeem or take the prize at the time and place stipulated by the Promoter.
4.3 In the event that any prize item is unavailable, the Promoter may, but is not required to, provide a substitute prize item of equal or greater value at the publishing date.
4.4 Any taxes (other than GST, if any) which may be payable as a consequence of a winner receiving the prize, or any element of the prize, are the sole responsibility of the winner.
4.5 The winner agrees not to sell or lease the prize, because profiteering from the prize, in part or full, is a breach of supply and action will be taken if misused.
4.6 The winner consents the use of their school & class name, photograph of class and entry for promotional purposes.
5. HOW TO WIN
5.1 Each entrant who has entered the competition over the competition period, registered all details in accordance with clause 3 & has been selected as one of the ten teams to compete in the challenge is eligible to win.
5.2 All ten schools selected to participate in the challenge must have their horse completed & have it ready to be picked up by Monday, 15th of July.
5.3 All horses will be judged by the public by a coupon voting system at The Cairns Post, Cairns Show stall from Wednesday, 17th July – Friday 19th of July. Final voting will be closed off at 12:00pm on Friday, 19th of July. All tokens will be counted on site at The Cairns Show. The winner will be announced on Friday, 19th of July at 1:00pm in the centre arena, during the main parade at The Cairns Show.
5.4 All prizes will be presented to the three winning schools on Friday, 19th of July.
5.5 The winning schools will be announced on
www.cairns.com.au/competitions. The schools will be notified by email/phone on Friday, 19th July.
5.6 Once the competition period is finished, the completed horse remains the property of The Cairns Amateurs & will be used at their discrection.
5.7 The Promoter’s decision is final and the Promoter will not enter into correspondence regarding the result.
5.8 If an entrant ticks the “terms & conditions” box on the online registration form, the entrant consents to storage of their personal information on the specified companies’ databases and the specified companies may use this information at any time in the future for promotional and marketing purposes regarding their respective products or services including contacting the entrant via electronic messaging.
6. NO LIABILITY
6.1 In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly hinders the Promoter’s ability to proceed with the competition on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the competition and recommence it from the start on the same conditions, subject to State Legislation.
6.2 The Cairns Post Pty Ltd, The Cairns Amateurs, Overflow Cairns & Cairns Central and their associated agencies and companies will take no responsibility for prizes damaged or lost in transit, or late, lost or misdirected mail.
6.3 The Promoter does not exclude any rights and remedies in respect of goods or services under the Competition and Consumer Act or equivalent State or Territory legislation which cannot be excluded, restricted or modified. However, the Promoter excludes all rights, remedies, conditions and warranties in respect of goods or services from your entry into this competition or your participation in or enjoyment of the prize whether based in statute, common law or otherwise, to the extent permitted by law. To the fullest extent possible the Promoter will have no liability in relation to the following:
6.3.1 the voting;
6.3.2 participation in or enjoyment of any prize;
6.3.3 as a consequence of late, lost or misdirected mail;
6.3.4 due to the broadcast of any program relating to the competition or the publication of any material, including any statements made by any compere, staff member, journalist, other entrants or any other person;
6.3.5 arising from or related to any problem or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines or mobile communications network related to or resulting from participation in this promotion;
6.3.6 due to circumstances outside the Promoter’s reasonable control.
6.4 The Cairns Post Pty Ltd and its affiliates assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission; communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of, entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available.
6.5 If, for any reason, this competition is not capable of being conducted as planned, including, but not limited, due to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition, subject to State Legislation.
