Official Rules

1   Information on how to enter forms part of these terms and conditions of entry. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
How to enter
2   The competition will be conducted between 3:00 pm AEST on 6 May 2013 and 10:00 am AEST on 3 June 2013(“Competition Period”).
3   Entry is open to Australian residents aged 18 years or over. Directors, officers, management, employees and immediate family of the Promoter and its associated agencies and companies are not eligible to enter.
4   To enter, participants must:
a)   Visit the competition website at http://virg.co/InspireComp or via the Promoter’s Facebook, Twitter or Google+ pages during the Competition Period.
b)   Complete a competition entry form registering the participant’s contact details (name, email address, phone number, city of residence), and answer in 50 words or less the question: “What is your dream holiday destination, and why?”
c)   Accept these terms and conditions.
d)   Submit the completed entry form on the competition website.
5   Entries will not be received unless and until a confirmation page is displayed on the website confirming that the entry has been successfully submitted.
6   There is a limit of one entry per person.
7   The Promoter may disqualify entries not fully complying with these conditions of entry. If a winning entry is disqualified, the relevant prize may be re-awarded as if the discarded entry had not been received.
8   Illegible, incomprehensible and incomplete entries will not be eligible to win.
Prizes
9   The Prizes are:
(a)   First prize – 7 night stay at Long Island Resort for 2 people in a beachfront room, including return economy class flights from the winner’s nearest capital city to Hamilton Island and transfers from Hamilton Island airport to the hotel. The prize will be provided in the form of a voucher, valid for bookings made within 12 months from the end of the Competition Period for travel prior to 31 March 2014. Blackout periods apply. Bookings may be made via the Promoter’s guest contact centre or on the Promoter’s website using the details provided in the notification email to the winner. The total estimated value is $2,140.
(b)   Second prize – HotelClub voucher to a maximum value of AUD$500, which may be used in a single booking at any available hotels on the hotelclub.com website, excluding Hotel Chain properties. Any unused portion of the voucher will be forfeited. The voucher may be redeemed for travel prior to 31 December 2013.
10   Prizes are not refundable, not transferable and are not redeemable for cash or for travel on any other airline. If prizes are not booked and used within the applicable validity period, the prize will be forfeited. All bookings are subject to availability of flights and accommodation. Accommodation is for base room only, and all meals, drinks, room service and other ancillaries are excluded. Prizes do not include flights or transportation to hotels except as specifically stated. Winners are responsible for arranging all other transportation.
11   Prize values are based upon recommended retail prices at the time of printing (inclusive of GST). The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any change in prize value between now and the ultimate prize redemption date. If a prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, the Promoter may substitute a prize of equal or greater value, subject to State regulation.
Judging
12   The eligible entry judged to best answer the question will win the first prize. The eligible entry judged to next best answer the question will win the second prize. The prizes will be awarded to the participants named in the entries.
13   This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the outcome. The criteria for judging will be based on originality, creative merit and relevance.
14   The winners will be notified by email after 9:00 am AEST on Monday 22nd April 2013.
15   The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Third party prize conditions
16   Flights are subject to Promoter’s terms and conditions of carriage which are located on the Virgin Australia website at www.virginaustralia.com. Accommodation and transfers are subject to the third party providers’ terms and conditions. it is a condition of accepting a prize that the winner accepts and complies with the conditions of carriage and all applicable third party terms and conditions.
Exclusions and limit of liability
17   Velocity points cannot be earned or redeemed in connection with prize bookings.
18   The winners and their companions are solely responsible for ensuring that they have all requisite visas, vaccinations and travel documentation which meet the requirements of immigration and other government authorities at every destination. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred in obtaining such visas, vaccinations and documents and/or for failing to obtain visas, vaccinations and documents as required, are the sole responsibility of the winner and their companions.
19   The Promoter makes no representation as to the safety, conditions or other issues that may exist at any destination.
20   The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any late, lost, incomplete, incorrectly submitted, delayed, illegible, corrupted or misdirected entries, claims or correspondence whether due to error, omission, alteration, tampering, deletion, theft, destruction or otherwise including those entries not received by the Promoter.
21   The Promoter is not liable for any tax implications arising from prize winnings. Independent financial advice should be sought as tax implications may arise as a result of accepting the prize.
Ownership of entries and publicity
22   By accepting the prize, the winners agree to participate in and co-operate as required with all reasonable media editorial requests relating to the prize, including but not limited to, being interviewed and photographed, and to the Promoter using and publishing the winners’ images and/or voices as recorded, photographed or filmed, in any media throughout the world. The winners will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
23   In consideration for the Promoter considering the participants’ entries, each participant hereby assigns to the Promoter, all right, title and interest in and to all copyright in any material created pursuant to the participant’s participation in any aspect of the competition (and, in respect of the winners, the prizes) (“Works”). The participants acknowledge that the Promoter is free to use the Works and to exercise its rights in relation thereto and the participants will not be entitled to any fee for such use. Each participant agrees that the Promoter may use the participant’s name to attribute the entry to the participant.
24   Should a participant’s contact details change during the Competition Period, the participant must notify the Promoter of their new details. The Promoter will not be responsible for any failure or inability to contact the participant if the participant does not promptly update their details.
25   The information participants provide will be used by the Promoter for the purpose of conducting this competition, for future promotional, marketing and promotional purposes via any media (including electronic messages) and otherwise in accordance with the Promoter’s Privacy Policy (available at http://www.virginaustralia.com/Privacy/index.htm#useanddisclosure). The Promoter may disclose participants’ personal information to its contractors and agents to assist in conducting this competition and communicating with participants, and may disclose participants’ personal information to government authorities if required by law.
26   Participants can request access to the personal information the Promoter holds about them or ask to modify any information provided in an entry by contacting the Promoter at the address below.
Verification of entries
27   The Promoter reserves the right to request winners to provide proof of identity, proof of age, proof of residency and/or proof of entry validity acceptable to the Promoter in order to claim a prize. If a winner cannot provide suitable proof, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered.
28   The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entry which in the opinion of the Promoter includes objectionable content, profanity, potentially insulting, inflammatory or defamatory statements, and to disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process, submits an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions, who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions, or who has, in the opinion of the Promoter, engaged in conduct in connection with the competition which is fraudulent, misleading, deceptive, unlawful, improper or damaging to the goodwill or reputation of the competition and/or the Promoter. The Promoter’s legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.
29   If any outside act, agent or event occurs which prevents or significantly hinders the Promoter’s ability to proceed with the competition on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, infection by computer virus, communications network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failure or any causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt of affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Promoter may in its absolute discretion suspend, cancel, terminate, modify or recommence the competition from the start on the same conditions, or invalidate any affected entries, subject to any written directions given under State regulation.
30   Except for liability that cannot be excluded by law, the Promoter, its associated agencies and companies (and their respective officers, employees and agents) exclude all liability (including negligence) for any personal injury or death, expense, or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity or profits, whether direct, indirect, special or consequential) arising in any way in connection with this competition or any prize/s.
31   The Promoter is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, either caused by the internet user or for any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in this competition, or for any technical error, or any combination thereof that may occur in the course of the administration of this competition including any omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line, internet or telephone, mobile or satellite network failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of entries.
