BustamentoOne of Australia's most highly respected musicians, Nicky Bomba, has jumped on his musical boat to deliver a party filled island adventure with his new band BUSTAMENTO and he's bringing the party to Tanks!

 

Nicky Bomba's BUSTAMENTO, touring Australia with their new album entitled Intrepid Adventures to the Lost Riddim Islands, delivers a party filled island adventure – a tropical shaking 6 piece that pays homage to the upbeat rhythms of the Caribbean, covering calypso, mento, early reggae and ska styles.

 

Nicky has built a solid reputation in the music industry via many projects including conducting the 30 piece Melbourne Ska Orchestra to playing drums on John Butler's award-winning 'Sunrise Over Sea' to being the Artistic Producer for the Multicultural Arts Victoria "Visible" project. To add to his accolades, Nicky recently received the highly prestigious Music Fellowship Award from the Australia Council.

About Tanks Art Centre

 

Tanks Arts Centre is a business unit of Cairns Regional Council, in the Community, Sports & Cultural Division. Situated in the Cairns Botanic Gardens precinct, just 4km north of the city's CBD, the centre is an iconic and innovative, multi-use, contemporary arts facility creatively housed in three converted World War 2 naval oil storage tanks, and set amidst a lush rainforest backdrop.

 

Tanks combines two main functions, that of a 'presenter' organisation offering a range of arts and cultural events and activities to a mixed audience, and a community cultural development organisation which aims to proactively engage local communities in cultural expression and participation.
