The musical adventures of Popeye & Olive

Popeye: Why don’t you come on my Popeye boat, I would love youse to go on adventures with me Olive Oyl.

Olive: Adventures on a boat… well I… I… I could get really far away then… I would love to oblige you Popeye.

With this line The Musical Adventures of Popeye and Olive comes to life as On the Fly brings you the epic tales of our cartoon hero Popeye and his ditzy girlfriend Olive Oyl, whilst introducing some of their traditional nemeses in brutish Brutus and the psychic Sea Hag. Together on Popeye’s boat ‘The Olive’ our hero and heroine will sail the Torrens swampy inlet on Adelaide’s Popeye boat as they find love in one another, whilst fending of the advances of Brutus Bluto, who wants his Olive back.

Brutus has historically battled Popeye in order to win the love of the lanky Olive Oyl, with the sometimes flaky Olive flitting between the two… though her heart will always belong to the man of Spinichk with the bulging biceps, Geh Geh Geh Geh…

In this energetic show that stays true to the cartoon with plenty of slapstick and some fast paced footwork by our larger than life characters there is plently of boof and wham and a wah wah wah wahhhhhhhhhh. And there’s more than one classic song from the ole days with tuneful entertainment to delight both young and old with the vocal talents of singer Teresa De Gennaro and with some able bodied singing that packs a punch by Eugene Suleau and Jarrad Parker.

But… just when they deal with one drama and think its safe to keep cruising in the swamps of the Torrens inlet there will be a surprise or two in store with Popeye’s spurned wanna be lover the Sea Hag, and that means you are in for the time of your life as the Popeye is taken over by that Old Black Magic called…Voodoo!

This interactive fun adventure invites children to come dressed as fellow sailors aboard the good ship Popeye, where they will take part in the action.

Starring Eugene Suleau as Popeye, Teresa De Gennaro as Olive Oyl, Jarrad Parker as Brutus and Tracey Davis as the Sea Hag.
