About Captain Morgan
When the President and CEO of Seagram's drinks company arrived in the Caribbean in the 1940s he was mesmerized by the opportunities presented by spiced rum & so founded the Captain Morgan Rum Company in 1945. When the company purchased the Long Pond Distillery in Jamaica, the President/CEO bought an age-old family recipe for spiced rum. That recipe became the inspiration for Captain Morgan Original Spiced.
Who was Captain Morgan
In 1654 a young Henry Morgan left his native Wales for the West Indies & became a plantation owner and Governor of Jamaica where he lived until his death in 1688.
