We are very excited to be kicking off a brand new photo competition this month. Over the next month we will be asking you to get out around Australia and take photos that celebrate and represent "Conservation in Australia", to be in the running. Use the below categories for extra inspiration.
On 15 July 2013, we’ll close submissions, narrow down the field selecting the photos that we feel best represent Conservation. We will then load the best of each category onto our Facebook page for you to judge. Voting will close on 31 July 2013 and the 12 photos receiving the most votes (aka Facebook "likes") will be announced.|
CATEGORIES:
Whilst Conservation is the main theme of the Calendar, images can be submitted in the following categories.

•Conservation in Action - connecting people with the Aussie environment
•Supporting Healthy Communities around Australia
•Preserving our Aussie Heritage (natural, man made and cultural)
•Honouring our native Australian wildlife
•Protecting Aussie Parks and Reserves
•Pristine Australian Coastlines and Waterways
The 12 photos that receive the most votes (“likes” on our Facebook page) regardless of category, will be featured in our 2014 Conservation Calendar which will go on sale in November 2013. These winners will also receive a FREE Conservation Volunteers 12 month Individual Membership valued at A$75 ea, as well as a copy of the 2014 Conservation Calendar they will be featured in.
Submission Guidelines for the CVA 2014 Conservation Calendar Photo Competition
Please read these guidelines before submitting your entry:
1.You must include your name, email address, home address and telephone number with each submission, along with the Category (from the list above) the image falls under. Submit one image per entry.
2.Your photo/image must be High Resolution (at least 400 DPI) to be suitable for printed publications.
3.Images in landscape format work best for publications like calendars.
4.Each image should include a brief description of where and when it was taken and species identification (if possible).
5.By entering this contest You agree that any (winning or shortlisted) image You submit may be used by Conservation Volunteers Australia (and its partners) solely for marketing and promotional purposes of this contest or future contests, these uses include; publication in the 2014 Conservation Calendar; within the CVA facebook page; within the CVA website; within the CVA newsletter and online eNewsletters.
6.We cannot return submissions, so you will need to keep copies of your images and entries.
7.Do not send a version of someone else’s work, or any copyrighted photo’s that do not belong to you.
8.Please include the following originality statement in your email;
”I hereby certify that the enclosed (or attached) work is completely my own original work”, followed by your full name to confirm your entry/s is completely your own work.
9.Submissions close on 15 July 2013. Finalists will be chosen and uploaded onto the CVA Facebook page by 17 July 2013. Public voting will take place until 31 July 2013. 12 Winners will be announced on 1 August 2013 and notified via email and the CVA Facebook page.
10.You will be notified by email should your photo be chosen for inclusion in the final judging via Facebook. You are then free to share and promote your image to friends and family.
11.The Final images will be decided by public vote via the CVA Facebook page. Each ‘like’ will be counted as one vote. The 12 images with the most “likes” by 31 July 2013 will be our final winners.
12.Images may be edited, (cropped, resized etc) and we reserve the right to publish our edited version without your prior approval.
13.We will generally print your name (ie. @ 2013 J Blogs) and acknowledge your photographic work in most formats we use it in, however in some cases we may exclude names for the sake of brevity or design. Failure to publish a credit due to error or oversight shall not be deemed a breach of this condition.
14.You hereby grant Conservation Volunteers Australia a non-exclusive, irrevocable licence in each Entry throughout the world in all media for the uses described in (5) above for 5 years following the date of announcement of the winners on 1 August 2013. Conservation Volunteers Australia respects photographers rights and does not claim ownership or copyright for images you submit to this contest, You will retain full ownership and copyright in each entry.
15. You have the option to donate an unlimited non-exclusive, irrevocable license as a voluntary donation to Conservation Volunteers Australia. This is simply an extension of the basis upon which we raise funds by appeals to the public, in this case the appeal is not for funds but for image usage rights. Should you wish to donate this right to Conservation Volunteers Australia simply add "I donate an unlimited non-exclusive right to use this image to Conservation Volunteers Australia". In which case we will be eternally grateful.
15.All material published in the CVA 2014 Conservation Calendar is licensed to CVA to protect us and to exclude others from republishing or reproducing your work. Images will not be on-sold or used by any other organisations.
