One double pass to ‘Shrine’ at Canberra Theatre, Fri Sep 27

Canberra Theatre Centre and Centenary of Canberra are proud to present the Australian East Coast premiere of Tim Winton’s (Cloudstreet) latest work Shrine, starring John Howard.

Following its World Premiere at Perth’s Black Swan State Theatre Company, the thought provoking narrative by one of Australia’s greatest contemporary writers is sure to get the Nation’s Capital talking. Shrine opens in The Playhouse from Thu-Sun September 26-29 as part of the Collected Works Australia Subscription Season 2013, making it the first professional production of a Tim Winton play to be performed in the ACT.

Directed by Kate Cherry, Shrine is set above the rocky headlands of the South Coast of Western Australia, between a forest and the sea. It’s wine country, and a privileged young man, Jack, has been killed driving friends back to Perth from his parents’ beach house. Jack leaves in his wake a wreck of a father, a shadow of a mother, and the promise of a love affair that never quite happened.

If you’d like our one double pass to the play on Friday September 27, email allan@bmamag.com and tell him why he should give it to you.
Email the editor with your name, phone number and address to see if you can pick up yourself a one of these.
Go for it, give it a tweet!
