After erupting back onto the scene with bold soul-rock shot ‘Under Your Skin’ — his first release in over four years, which was promptly added to high rotation on triple j — Dan Sultan and his band are thrilled to announce a capital city tour for February and March 2014.

Dan’s upcoming tour will give fans an opportunity to hear both new songs and old favourites, accompanied by his dynamic band. The Melbourne artist has also been announced as special guest for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s Melbourne and Hunter Valley shows next February, alongside reformed Australian rock’n’roll favourites Hunters & Collectors and Sydney band The Rubens.

‘Under Your Skin’ is a definite indication of the grand statement that awaits us, with the coming of Dan Sultan’s fourth studio album. With another single due out before the LP’s early April release, fans will get a chance to hear yet another example of the explosive rock melodies and snarling, sultry vocals which made the young songwriter a household name.  Recorded in Nashville’s legendary Blackbird Studio, Dan’s performance on the album accurately reflects his many awards and accolades, including the 2007 Deadly Award for Single Release of the Year, 2010 AIR Award for Best Independent Artist, and 2010 ARIA for Best Male Artist.

The Medics will join Dan on his capital city tour. The Medics’ story started in Cairns, far north Queensland and has seen their emergence as one of Australia’s most genuinely exciting new bands performing at Splendour in the Grass, Big Day Out, Laneway Festival, Groovin’ the Moo, Woodford and The Dreaming Festivals. The Medics took out top honours at the 2012 National Indigenous Music Awards with wins for Album of the Year for their stunning debut LP ‘Foundations’ and Song of the Year for ‘Griffin’, and were crowned Best New Talent at the 2013 Rolling Stone Awards. They are currently working on the follow up to ‘Foundations’ and are itching to get the new songs out there in 2014.

Melbourne’s beloved filmmaking and screening collective, Beg Scream and Shout will be back in 2014, showcasing a swag full of work and collaborations at The Shadow Electric on February 13th, including live performances by Montero and Fatti Francis, along with experimental projections by Lightmares, TAM Projects, Tess Hamilton and more.

Sprouting in 2009, when a handful of local artists, musicians and filmmakers decided to screen their wares in interesting settings that would complement their films, Beg, Scream and Shout has since flourished from band rooms and art galleries around Melbourne, to it’s now, yearly location at Shadow Electric Open Air Cinema in Abbotsford Convent.

After selling out Shadow Electric in 2013, with films and performance by The UV Race, Johann Rashid, Geoffery O’Conner, Mikey Leonard and Tooth & Claw, this year, Beg, Scream and Shout is taking it one step further, with three experimental film projects commissioned specifically for Beg, Scream & Shout and accompanied by live musical performances.

Incorporating two stages, Montero will ease into the night with a psychedelic sunset show, including new animations by Ben Montero on the main stage as the bats streak across the sky. TAM Projects, Tess Hamilton and The Beg Scream and Shout Collective have teamed up with a variety of local musicians, including synth master,Gerald Wells and Avant-garde band, Glasfrosch for a handful of experimental pieces.

Closing the night inside, Brendan Harwood’s Lightmares project will meld with Fatti Francis’ experimental RnB. Customised visuals mapped to Fatti Francis’ doom-like bass, erratic and tormented beats and projected onto a 3D geometric sculptural backdrop.

Beg Scream and Shout showcases the creative forces of Melbourne’s up coming artists in a collaborative and engaging space.
