In the last decade, South Korea has snuck up and earned itself a reputation as the new hotspot on the international cinematic landscape. And for the past four years, The Korean Film Festival in Australia (KOFFIA) has been bringing some of the country’s best flicks to Australian audiences, and the festival is back for its fifth year. While the 2014 program is unsurprisingly littered with a fistful of uncompromising thrillers including Cold Eyes and New World, the line-up also boasts soulful dramas (try Hope, The Dinner and Thread of Lies), smart comedies (including the subversive rom-com Very Ordinary Couple) and striking animation (a highlight is Satellite Girl and Milkcow).
