Child-genius TS Spivet (Kyle Catlett) has invented the world's first perpetual motion machine and the Smithsonian Institute wants to give him an award. Secretly stealing away on a freight train, Spivet travels from his family’s ranch in Montana to Washington. Along the way he meets an assortment of odd characters and has experiences that will challenge everything he thought he understood about the world – and his own family.
