JOKER: Dave Hughes will perform at Wests Nelson Bay Diggers on December 6.
DAVE Hughes reckons he is on top of his stand-up game right now.
After a year of touring the country with his stand-up show, Pointless, and performing countless shows, Hughes said he feels right at home on the stage.
"I've been at it all year and all over the place," he said.
"I've always loved stand up, I'll never get sick of it.
"I've never been bored on stage.
"Frightened and humiliated, yes, but not bored."
The Australian comedian may be best known for his five-year stint on Network Ten television program The Project or the voice behind the Hughesy and Kate show on radio station Nova 100, which wrapped up in 2013.
Hughes' larrikin personality, drawling Australian accent and deadpan comedic delivery are his trademarks and will be on show in Port Stephens for the first time next week.
Hughes will perform at Wests Nelson Bay Diggers on Saturday, December 6.
Asked how Nelson Bay made his tour schedule, Hughes said he had "no idea", but he was looking forward to it regardless.
"I hear it's a lovely area," he said.
His performance in Nelson Bay will be a combination of the material he knows will get the audience laughing along with gags from Pointless and some "local jokes".
"I'm always looking for local material," Hughes said.
"What ever time I have before the show I'll walk around, get a feel for the place.
"The audience can expect some local jokes."
