Sydney’s most Instagrammable ice cream is coming to Brisbane — and you can get your cone for free!
Okinawa’s sea salt soft serves have become world famous. You wouldn’t typically think of sea salt as a dessert flavour, but aficionados swear by this Japanese favourite, because the sea salt enhances the flavour of the ice cream, making it taste sweeter and creamier.
Aqua S founder Jennifer Lam was traveling through Okinawa when she tried one of their famous sea salt soft serves. She loved the taste, but thought the plain white-coloured soft cream served in a cup looked too drab to do the flavour justice.
When she got back to Australia, Jennifer decided to put her own spin on the sea salt soft serve, elevating it to a work of art with bright, exotic and fun toppings like fairy floss, toasted marshmallows, popcorn and popping candy, and fun flavours like matcha, English breakfast tea and maple syrup.
These fun twists on the traditional soft serve have made Aqua S an Instagram phenomenon, particularly for their legendary “cloud” fairy floss.
Since opening on George Street in Sydney’s CBD at the start of last year, they’ve expanded to two more Sydney locations and into Melbourne, but we haven’t had a chance to taste the magic in Brisbane — until now. Aqua S will pop up in the Wintergarden on Queen Street for one day only as part of the Shop The City event.
And the best part? It’s free! Aqua S will be distributing free ice cream cones at the Wintergarden from 11am to 3pm on Thursday 1 September.
