Immerse into the Earth’s long and dynamic history at the National Dinosaur Museum, located in Gold Creek Village. One of Canberra’s most popular family destinations, this educational museum houses Australia’s largest permanent collection of dinosaur and prehistoric fossils, complemented by life-like dinosaur models and robotic dinosaurs. It also has an impressive collection of crystals and minerals on display.

Families can come on a free 30-minute tour of the exhibitions, guided by experienced staff. Fun-filled tours focus on the key exhibits and inform about geological time scales, Australia’s prehistory, paleontological methods, how dinosaurs evolved and lived, climactic changes and events, and the rise of the mega-fauna that followed the dinosaur extinction.

Dinosaur fans can relax in the interactive area, making fossil rubbings, colouring-in, touching real minerals or watching a documentary on a comfy dinosaur beanbag.

The museum’s gift shop stocks a wide range of natural history books, dinosaur models, apparel and toys.
