A raw, brave and beautiful circus-comedy about one woman’s flaws and all promises to be a must-see at this year’s Fringe World festival.
Perth’s own Dawn Pascoe is the beauty and brains behind Natural Wings (Winner of the WA Circus Award at Fringe World 2015 and 2016) and invites audiences to witness exquisite choreography on the ground and high in the air with her Flaws & All show delivering a stunning and quirky combination of aerial dance and physical comedy.
“I’m fascinated by the notion that we try to hide our flaws, our failures, our cellulite, our not-so-perfect lives which got me thinking: why not embrace these flaws? And how do I show this message using just my body, my creativity, two trapezes, a diabolo, an evolving costume and a cake?,” Pascoe says of Flaws & All.
From dress sense to having a balanced life, to getting drunk at a party and doing inappropriate things, to eating the whole cake instead of just one slice… we all have our flaws and Pascoe thinks we should celebrate them!
With a background in circus including a Diploma from Circo Arts NZ (2005) and Performing Arts BA Theatre Arts from WAAPA (2003), Pascoe is a choreographic specialist in aerial dance, as well as a rigger, performer, director, devisor and artistic director of Natural Wings, a production company she founded in 2005.
Pascoe has toured all over Australia and abroad, including Sirkus Landsby in Norway, Canadian Street Art Festivals, Irish Aerial Dance Festival and the World of Wearable Art in NZ.
With Fringe World often over-run by international acts, this local lady with her heart on her sleeve is definitely one act not to be missed.
