https://dailyreview.com.au/win-shot-caller-dvd/72169/WIN A $110 DVD PACK: SHOT CALLER, MACHETE KILLS, TRANSPORT 3, TRANSPORTER REFUELLED, RED, 44 INCH CHEST, RED AND IN BRUGES
If you like prison movies, then this one is for you. In Shot Caller, Jacob Harlon (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from Game of Thrones) is a successful businessman “who after killing a man in a DUI car accident is sent to a maximum security prison where he soon realises he must adapt or die’’. And like all good prison movies, adapting means acquiring muscles, tatts and a retro moustache. It also means Shot Caller “explores the human condition and how far one man will go to protect his family”.
The thriller is directed by Ric Roman Waugh (Snitch). In Shot Caller, the successful life of a Pasadena financier Jacob (Coster-Waldau), married to Kate (Lake Bell) and with perfect kids, disappears when a drunk-driving accident results in the accidental death of his best friend Tom (Max Greenfield).
Charged with vehicular manslaughter, Jacob is sentenced to prison where he’s surrounded by cutthroat criminals. A fish out of water, he is forced to do the unimaginable to survive within the prison gang hierarchy where one wrong move can be his last. He adopts the persona of “Money” and rises up within the Aryan Brotherhood prison gang.
