IRELAND'S FINEST: See Irish singer songwriter Damien Dempsey - the headline act at the Magners Irish Festival in Sydney.

ART, culture, music, dance, food, drink, and a competitive hurling match will herald the inaugural 2018 Magners Sydney Irish Festival in November.

The festival will also feature traditional Irish dance performances, hurling clinics, market stalls, comedy, marching bands, buskers, amusement rides and player autograph sessions.

Headlining on the festival stage will be Dublin’s own Damien Dempsey, whose music has been described as a dose of reggae fused with traditional Irish music with a little rock and folk added into the mix.

Also appearing will be Lunasa, one of the most influential bands in the history of Irish traditional music, and Saint Sister making their Australian debut.

Sunday will see hurling at its very best, with All Ireland champions Galway and the winner of the 2018 Allianz National Hurling League facing off for the Wild Geese Trophy.

Sydney Irish Festival, Sydney Showgrounds, Sydney Olympic Park, November 10-11; tickets from Ticketmaster, 136-100.
