Beloved ’80s retro sci-fi film Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone is a high-powered adventure starring Peter Strauss as a galactic bounty hunter menaced by a mechanical madman in this cult movie inspired by Star Wars.
It is the year 2136 (not too far now…) and Wolff (Strauss), while answering a distress signal agrees to rescue three beautiful maidens from a plague-ridden planet. When the women are kidnapped by henchmen of Overdog (Michael Ironside), the wicked half man/half machine who rules the planet, Wolff takes off in hot pursuit. As he challenges assorted monsters and mutants, circumstances throw Wolff together with Niki (Molly Ringwald), a spunky waif who agrees to guide him to Overdog’s scrap metal kingdom.
From veteran journeyman director Lamont Johnson, also starring Ernie Hudson, and from the writers of Meatballs and Stripes, Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone is a hoot from start to finish!
