Earth Hour is almost here, and the dress code is noir.
The countdown is on for the largest global environmental movement. March 30th is approaching and from 8.30pm to 9.30pm, Earth Hour will commence, meaning a global shutdown of city lights. Earth Hour is a special hour. We’ll be treated to a rare number of stars that are normally squandered by our light pollution.
The fight for the future of our planet needs to be at the forefront of our minds, and a simple act like turning off a light switch can easily go forgotten.
If you’re looking for the perfect place to spend Earth Hour, where you can unwind and take in our city’s newfound calmness, we’ve got the place for you. The boutique New Farm hotel, Spicers Balfour is preparing for a decadent night of dining. Dîner en Noir will be a darkly evocative dining experience with a long four course sit-down table dinner, starting from 6.00pm and guess what, we’re giving away two free tickets! The hotel’s head chef Nick Stapleton is ensuring his cooking techniques will use minimal electricity by opting for raw ingredients or coal-grilled, roasted and smoked dishes. We’ll take the potatoes roasted in embers and the coal-roasted pineapple with torched meringue, please! The dress code is black, aligning with the noir theme of the night and your ticket will include a glass of Perrier-Jouët on arrival, as well as food, wine and beer until 9:00pm.
