2021 Transdev School Bus Safety Poster Competition
We’re calling on Victorian students in Prep – Year 6 to create a poster promoting safe travel on buses.

Enter for your chance to win exciting prizes!

Prizes will be awarded in three categories – Prep – Year 2, Years 3 - 4 and Years 5 - 6.

1st prize: VTech Kidizoom Smart Watch and board games pack including Jumanji, Star Wars Monopoly, Pictionary and more

2nd prize: Art prize pack including water colour pencils, paints, chalk and more

3rd prize: Sports prize pack including AFL football, skipping rope, table top football and more

Journey Maker Award: Crayola Inspiration Art Case

A $200 Rebel Sport voucher will be awarded to the school with the most number of entries from its students.

The competition opens Monday 26 July and entries must be submitted by midnight Sunday 19 September.

Step 1: Pick a theme for your poster
Show us your creative skills and create an original poster featuring one of the following safety themes:

Staying safe on buses during wet weather

Winter brings cold and wet weather which means roads and bus floors can be wet and slippery. You can stay safe when travelling on buses by taking a seat, if available. When standing, hold onto to a handrail or strap when the bus is moving. Also, if you have a school bag, keep it on your lap so the aisles are clear for other passengers. Make sure you ring the bell before your stop so the driver has enough time to pull over smoothly.
Staying safe around bus stops

Bus stops can sometimes be busy and located near noisy roads. You can stay safe at bus stops by hailing the bus early so the driver has enough time to slow down and pick you up. Stand back from the road when hailing the bus. Look left and right when getting off the bus at a bus stop to ensure it is safe to exit. When getting picked up from a bus stop ask your parent or guardian to park their car on the same side as road as the bus stop so you don’t have to cross the road.

Step 2: Create your poster
We want to make sure you have the best chance at winning.

Before you start your poster read the checklist below or watch the video to ensure your entry meets the requirements.

Entries must be A4 or A3 in portrait
Entries must be an original image and can be made using the following mediums – pencil, felt tip pen, water colour paints or crayons.
Your entry should demonstrate a clear safety message (ensure you spell correctly!) and include correct safety behaviour (rather than what not to do).
You must include a hand drawn Transdev logo.
Your parent/guardian must give you permission to enter and tick the box in the entry form.
Your poster must show one of the themes outlined above
In addition to your poster, we ask that you submit a short video of you asking a question about catching buses to one of our friendly bus drivers.
Make sure you or your parent/guardian read the competition terms and conditions
How will my poster be judged?

Originality and creativity (Think about how you use colour and creativity to get a passengers’ attention?)
How well your poster communicates a safety message. (Think about the visual impact of your poster and how clear your safety message is to others)
The potential for the poster to be used to promote bus safety
How well your poster meets the above criteria.

Step 3: Submitting your poster
We know that you have put a lot of time and effort into your poster, so make sure that it looks its best when you submit it.

Before you submit your poster, make sure you read the criteria and that your poster meets all the requirements.
Take a clear photo of your poster, ensuring that we can see your drawings clearly and any writing is easy to read.
We recommend taking a close up photo of your poster so it fills the whole photo.

Good luck! We can’t wait to see what you create!
Go for it, give it a tweet!
