This double-bill of solo soprano performances centres around two women and two phone calls that change their lives. In these powerful works we experience an emotional world of remarkable beauty and tenderness, hope and love, kindness and tragedy.
The Call is a new Australian work, inspired by a remarkable true story about a woman left with nothing but a phone number. She dials, someone answers and so begins a conversation that changes everything.
Starring Ali McGregor and composed by Kate Miller-Heidke and Connor D’Netto with libretto by Kate Miller-Heidke and Keir Nuttall, this astonishing new opera shows how a single act of kindness can transform an entire life.
The Human Voice is an uncanny companion piece to The Call, recounting another extraordinary story of a woman making a phone call that will also change her life.
In witnessing the final conversation between an abandoned women and her lover we encounter an emotional world of remarkable beauty, tenderness and tragedy.
