Maui Jim started in 1987 as a small company selling sunglasses on Ka'anapali beach in Lahaina, Maui. Seeing a need in the market for technology that could protect eyes from intense glare and harmful UV while bringing the brilliant colours of the island to life, they engineered the revolutionary PolarizedPlus2® lens.
Maui Jim’s PolarizedPlus2® lens technology uses up to nine layers of protection on each lens to cut 99.9 percent of glare and 100 percent of UV rays from above, below and behind each lens. Only Maui Jim lenses use three rare earth elements (neodymium, erbium and praseodymium) and other proprietary technologies to significantly enhance colours seen through the lenses, in particular increasing the amount and quality of red, blue and green the eye perceives.
