Take a selfie with your pooch and one of our Proactive Patrol officers to be in the running to receive a free dog rego!
We are giving away 20 free dog registrations (2023/24 rego period) - with five free regos awarded each week.
We know some people are not keen on having their photo taken, so if you prefer, ask one of our patrol officers to pose with your pooch.
To enter:

Post it to your Facebook or Instagram page
Tag @CairnsPetsMake sure that your post is set to 'public' otherwise we won't be able to find it.

Proactive Patrol
The Animal Management Proactive Patrol team visits popular dog walking and exercise locations throughout the Cairns Regional Council area every day.
They are here to help!
If you have questions about having a pet in Cairns, need some advice on good places to exercise with your pooch, or some tips on dog behaviour, our Patrol officers are happy to have a chat.
You can find the team most mornings and afternoons at:
The Esplanade and northern beaches foreshores
Popular parks such as Goomboora Park, Loridan Drive Park, Rainy Mountain Park, Engineers Park, Silver Crescent Park, Jashar Park and Norman Park
Sporting areas such as Aeroglen Touch Park, Fuller Park, Petersen Park and Walker Road Sports Precinct
Natural areas such as the Botanic Gardens and Centenary Lakes Precinct, The Rocks and Redlynch Cycle Way
Terms and Conditions
How to enter:
Participants in the competition post a photo of themselves with a Cairns Regional Council Proactive Patrol Animal Management Officer, or a photo of our Proactive Patrol Officer with their pet where the entrant prefers not to be photographed, to their Facebook or Instagram social media profile, and tag @CairnsPets.
The social media post must be set to ‘public’ view to be eligible.
The competition will be held from 8am on Monday 15 May to 11.59pm on Sunday 11 June.
Prize:
20 ‘free dog registrations’ for the period 1 August 2023 to 31 July 2024 (registration period) will be awarded during the competition.
5 free registrations will be awarded each week for the weeks starting:

Winners will be drawn at random on the Monday following the relevant prize duration to ensure entries received up to 11.59pm on the relevant Sunday are included in the draw.
Eligibility:
The competition is open to all dog owners residing in the Cairns Regional Council Local Government Area. Dogs must have a current registration with Cairns Regional Council.
Entries (by way of social media post) must be posted by 11.59pm on the Sunday in the relevant prize week to be eligible for that week’s draw.
Entries posted after 11.59pm on the Sunday of the relevant prize week will automatically be entered in the next relevant week’s draw.
Unsuccessful entries do not carry over to the following prize week.
Entries posted after 11.59pm Sunday 11 June are outside the competition period and are ineligible.
Selection and notification of prize winners:
Prize winners will be selected by random draw from all eligible entries within the relevant prize week.
Council will contact the winners by Direct Message by 5pm on the Wednesday following the prize draw. Winners have until 5pm on the Friday following notification to confirm their acceptance of the prize.
Any unclaimed prizes will be returned to the prize pool and reallocated to a weekly draw at the discretion of Cairns Regional Council.
To receive the prize, winners must disclose their name, dog kept at address, dog registration number / and or sufficient information for Council to update the dog registration database.
Failure to provide the above information, will amount to a forfeit of the prize.
Personal information
Participant’s personal information is managed in line with Council’s Privacy Policy
https://www.cairns.qld.gov.au/home/privacy, and is collected for the sole purpose of administering this competition and updating the dog registration database.
Collection of prizes:
On acceptance of the prize, and provision of suitable identification as stated above, Council Regional Council will amend its dog registration database to indicate the dog registration fee for the registration period has been waived.
A letter stating same will be provided by email to the winner as confirmation of the dog registration fee waiver.
Disputes:
This competition is conducted at the sole discretion of Cairns Regional Council. Cairns Regional Council has the right to cancel this competition at any time, without prior notice.
Disputes regarding this competition can be made directly to Cairns Regional Council via
council@cairns.qld.gov.au with Cairns Regional Council Proactive Patrol competition as the reference.
Disputes will be managed in line with Council’s complaints management processes.
